Based on snakes and ladders there are 11 boards covering the Common Exception Words for Year 2. There are approx 6 different words on each board. Just follow the direction of the pirate ship when you land on the square

Played the same way as snakes and ladders (when you land on the heroes feet follow the direction they are pointing). 5 boards in total which have 22 different words on each. Each word is repeated 2/3 times.

There are 8 boards in total covering all the common exception words for year 1. There are 4-6 words on each board

This pack covers all the Phase 5 sounds, words and Tricky Words. There are separate sections for sounds, words and Tricky Words Either label cars with the words or sounds for a matching activity or sound out the word or say the sound and players park their car in the correct bay. Alternative use the word boards and players park their car in the bay that rhymes with the word you say.

These are based on the Year 1 Common Exception Words for the new National Curriculum. It includes: - Monster Mission (find the word 10 times). - Monster Mayhem which have groups of the Common Exception Words to find. - Monster Mix Up where the words are jumbled up. There are two versions of this a cut and stick and a written version. Please note a and I are not included Ideal for independent work during guided reading or homework.

An activity which involves matching the letters to the sound. Could also be used in the pairs memory game.

These games have no prep at all, just print and play. Players start anywhere on the outside board. Roll the dice and move that many spaces, then work out which sound is in the picture. Colour the correct sound in the players chosen colour. Either play until all the sounds are coloured or until one player gets five in a row. Single player can try to get five in a row.
