This includes two packs: Phase 5 Phonic Flowers - Display version This pack has a flower for each of the Phase 5 sounds. The sounds where they make oo and yoo have been combined onto one flower. The split ee sound has words instead of pictures and some of the others flowers may have words on the petals. Each flower is in parts and will need cutting out. For long term use print onto card and laminate. These can be used as part of an interactive display or a table top where children can attach the petals to the correct sound. Phase 5 Phonic Flowers - Cut and stick Version This pack has a flower for each of the Phase 5 sounds. The sounds where they make oo and yoo have been combined onto one flower. The split ee sound has words instead of pictures and some of the others flowers may have words on the petals. They have been designed as a cut and stick activity. Each flower is black and white or uses grey scale to enable cost effective photocopying. There is a dotted line around each part to make it easier for younger pupils or those with fine motor issues easier to cut. Older or more adapt pupils may want to cut around the thick black lines.

The aim is for children to make their own alien words using a dice and the chart appropriate to the phase they are working on. There is board for Phase 2, 3 and 5 and a recording sheet. How to play: Roll the dice. Find the number you have rolled on the first box. Chose a sound and write it on your sheet under 1st. Roll it again and find the number you have rolled in the second box. Chose a sound and write it under 2nd. Roll it a last time. Find the number you have rolled in the third box. Chose a sound and write in on your sheet under 3rd. Ask your partner to read your alien word. If they can read it give them a P. If they can’t give them a X. Now its your partners turn. This pack contains two charts for Grapheme Phoneme Correspondence. There is one for consonants and one for vowels. Ideal to keep on tables for using during writing activities.

This game has been designed to be used as revision and interventions. Depending on the focus the cards can be used in different ways (see following pages for details). Not all the cards need to be used. For example you might wish to revise the trigraphs so you would use the sound and word cards for those and any alien words cards that use those and previous sounds. For intervention you may want to focus on sounds and words your students need more practice with. Ideally use with 2 – players. It can be used with a 1-3 or 1-6 dice depending on time and preference.

Covers CVCC, CCVC/CCVCC, CCCVC/CCCVCC and Polysyllabic words. Can be used as a matching activity, the memory game pairs, write a sentence for the picture or draw a picture for the sentence.
