Lesson for students studying Edexcel GCSE Henry VIII and his ministers
Lesson focuses on the reasons for, events of and reasons for failure of the Lincolnshire rebellion.
Card sort task to categorise reasons for the rebellion. Students then provided with a very poor description of the events, a ‘failed’ answer. They have to add specific detail to it, including sepcialist terms, dates etc using information sheet, created using the Pearson textbook but better formatted, condensed and simplified.
Students then carry out a P.E.E paragraph looking at the reasons for failure of the rebellion, this links to the success criteria for a 12 mark edexcel question.
Students provided with advice, writing frame etc to help with this.
Kahoot style multiple choice quiz at the end without use of iPads.

Focus on when, where, who was involved, agreements/disagreements.
Useful due to fact that information about each conference is condensed into 3 student friendly sheets. Focus on students reading and deciding whether each decision was an agreement/disagreement. Great for teachers under time pressure trying to get through vast amounts of content, designed to deal with this issue.

Students are given a character card (key individual from the course) they then use their worksheet which includes facts about all of the key people to identify which fact relates to their character after reading the character card. They then use the card to add an extra fact about the character, then move around the classroom to get a completed sheet.
They should then be able to write the story of the course, showing how the individuals link together.
Also includes link to a KAHOOT or similar multiple choice powerpoint quiz without technology.
