This perfect combination of different past KS2 SATs practise questions is a great way to ensure that your Y6 students are fully prepared for their exams!
This is also a good way to prep Y5 students about the sort of demand they will be expected to cope with in the Y6 exams.
The reading texts (with mark scheme and notes) are:
Charlie Small
Guide Dogs
Treasure Island
Good luck with the SATs!
The attached resource contains a selection of 5 creative writing tasks, and they have been especially designed to suit the style of the GCSE Language papers.
You may use this as an assessment tool for your students or you can do this as guided practice with the whole class. It is recommended that you pick 2 tasks from the 5 and write answers to those questions.
The attached resource is an example essay answer to the following question:
TO WHAT EXTENT DOES BOTH ‘CHARGE OF THE LIGHT BRIGADE’ AND ‘EXPOSURE’ EXPLORE THE HORRORS OF WAR?
This is a useful resource to use with your GCSE English Literature classes, especially if you’ve just finished the two poems above.
This resource can be used by teachers as an assessment tool or as guided practice with the whole class. It is an example of a proper literature exam that students may get.
The poem used in this test is Aftermath by Siegfried Sassoon. This assessment should take 30 minutes for students to complete.
The attached resources are a practise Y6 SATS SPAG exam.
There is a grammar and punctuation test and a spelling test attached on this resource.
NB: the grammar and punctuation test and spelling test are on different documents. The spelling test document has got the questions and answers on the same document.
For this assessment, you must have with you a pen and a copy of the poem, ‘Charge of the Light Brigade’. This assessment will be testing your knowledge of the poem as a whole and will be testing your ability to critically analyse the meaning of certain phrases in the poem. This question paper consists of one extended-writing question to answer, and this question will be out of 30 marks. You will be assessed on your quality of writing and content, each contributing to 50% of your total mark.
You will be allowed to spend 35 minutes on this assessment. Should you require more paper to write on, please let your exam invigilator know.
This can be used by students who are studying “The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde” by R.L. Stevenson. The PowerPoint attached has got the first 2 extended writing tasks of the unit, and this can be used by teachers as an assessment tool or a guided task with the whole class.
I have attached some videos from Youtube that can help you to make sure students understand the novella and how to structure their essay answers. This is a very useful skill, so please make sure students are confident with this.
