A detailed A3 revision sheet containing key quotations in short easy to remember chunks for the following 4 supporting characters in Romeo and Juliet: Mercutio, Capulet, Nurse and Friar.
There is a differentiated activity to encourage students to use the revision sheet effectively:
Bronze: AO1 explain what we learn about the character in each quote.
Silver: AO3 link each quotation to context
Gold: AO3 link each quotation to a theme
Diamond: AO2 Identify language features in each quotation

Students read a model response to the following question:
How does Shakespeare present the theme of love in Romeo and Juliet. (34).
Then then have to annotate each sentence to analyse what the essay writer is doing in each section of the response.

A differentiated activity to get students to engage with the grade 8/9 assessment criteria for the new AQA 1-9 English Literature Paper 2 GCSE. Modern texts.
Bronze level: students look for the meanings of difficult vocabulary.
Silver level: students convert the criteria into student speak.
Gold level: students write advice for how to meet the criteria for A01, 2 and 3.
