AQA Paper 2 Question 4 extracts and question

Here are two articles. One is criticising Peppa Pig and one is defending it. I know both of these texts are 21st century but I find these 2 articles are useful for teaching students the Paper 2 Question 4 skills of comparing authorial feelings and perspectives before moving on to looking at a more challenging 19th century comparison text.

A Christmas Carol Top 86 Quotations

I have collated what I consider to be the most important 80+ quotations onto one document. There are lots of ways students and teachers can use this resource. One is to pick a certain number to really focus on and build on developing inferences for them in the same way as the two examples I have provided. Students may also want to find different ways of grouping the quotations together such as by different themes to help prepare for any question that might come up in the exam. I have also included a version with key words missing so students can add the key word. This works well as a starter. Also contains a random generator powerpoint that works well as a bell activity. Set off the random generator. Right click to stop on a random quotation. Students must compete to be the first to identify the missing word. Works well as a quick 5 minute activity to repeat over a number of lessons. A ‘because, but, so’ paragraph can act as a useful tool for starting off an exam response on a character to demonstrate the depth of a students’ thinking. Here are 6 ‘because, but, so’ sample paragraphs on the 6 main characters in the novel: Ralph, Jack, Simon, Piggy, Roger, The Beast. Also includes a template for students to practise their own introductions. For my Lord of the Flies resources, check out my bundle: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/resource-12072617

Avoid having to write out the same comment 30 times by using this numerical code that link to generic targets you are likely to give to a reading or writing response. Saves me hours of time every week and how my department have started to adopt it too!
