A great Friday period 5-type revision activity which uses the power of images to help students both explore and memorise 16 quotations.
The worksheet features 16 quotes from Macbeth with 16 accompanying images. Students follow the differentiated success criteria and annotate the quotations for various shades of meaning.
Includes answers which can be printed separately or to form double sided revision cards.
When they have done this, I allow them to colour in the quotations.
Useful as a follow up to my top 50 Macbeth quotations resource. (see my shop)
A lesson aimed at preparing students on how Shakespeare presents Macbeth’s and Banquo’s attitudes to the supernatural.
It includes an exam question and a grade 9 model answer.
To start with, the PowerPoint annotates the set extract and then annotates 7 quotes from outside the extract that link to the supernatural. There is also a slide explaining how to link to context for A03.
I have also added a writing frame to help mid-ability students a coherent response that explores a theme in an extract and the play as a whole.
Also includes a timeline tracing the supernatural across the play.

Ideal revision activity in the run up to the May examinations.
I have carefully selected what I consider to be the 5 key extracts from Stave 4 . They are differentiated by colour. Each extract has an AQA style GCSE question attached to it. This works well as a home and away task. There is also a grid for students to fill in to show their understanding of each extract.

Wxplore how Dickens presents Scrooge’s fears/anxieties in A Christmas Carol.

Differentiated resources which aid students in developing the texture of an original idea. This was originally used over 3 lessons with a sixth form class but could also be used with GCSE students.
Students must firstly define texture development methods (definitions provided). They must then identify how this looks by using musical examples.
The gold task then asks students to apply at least one method to their own composition.
All worksheets are in word so they can be further adapted in order to differentiate for your students.

Simple but effective lesson.
Students practise using a combination of simple, compound and complex sentences within descriptive paragraphs using the power and conflict poems as inspiration for their writing.
Students then review their paragraph by exploring the impact of each sentence type.
To develop their paragraph further, students can add a wider variety of punctuation by responding to the 3 prompts.
A lesson aimed at low ability boys which uses the topic of Tyson Fury to teach the skills required for Language Paper 2 Question 4. Rather than use a 19th century text, I chose to use two 21st century texts to provoke the comparison to help build the comparative skills required for this question…
Students read two articles about Fury. One was written in 2020 and one in 2015 when Fury was a more controversial figure. They then find quotations and follow a writing frame to compare the writers’ viewpoints about Fury in the two texts.
There is also an example grade 6 paragraph to help guide students.
I have also added a similar task looking at two contrasting articles about Peppa Pig. This works well with introducing KS3 students to the style of question they will encounter at KS4.
PowerPoint lesson on Owen with colour coded animated annotations covering language, structure and form.
Includes exemplar paragraphs, notes on 5 key quotations, questions on each stanza and a range of follow up activities and 4 worksheets looking at the exploring 4 different types of conflict in the poem:
4 types of conflict in Exposure
Conflict with the weather
Conflict with religious faith
Conflict between the present and the past memories of home
Conflict between anticipated action and inaction.
Differentiated resources which aid students in developing the harmony of an original idea. This was originally used over 3 lessons with a sixth form class but could also be used with GCSE students.

A 12 page help guide for GCSE music students to guide then through composing a theme and variation piece.
This focusses on how to develop the melody, texture, rhythm, metre and harmony.
Musical examples are given for each musical development method.
