I'm a former class teacher. My resources were originally made for use in my class, but sometimes I get asked to develop stuff for other people. I'm happy to make spreadsheets in particular!

Grammar, punctuation & spelling sample assessment

Here are the pdfs of the sample grammar, punctuation and spelling sample test provided by the government for the end of Key Stage 2 assessment. I've added an excel spreadsheet to help analyse outcomes of the test and areas where children do well or need additional input. No levelling information is currently available for these tests and so they are of limited use, however I feel experiencing this test before the actual one of vital for both children and adults! The .xls version may not display the rankings as clearly as the .xlsx version.
Equivalent Fractions Tarsia Puzzle

Equivalent Fractions Tarsia Puzzle

(37)
This puzzle comprises 18 sets of equivalent fractions spread over 16 equilateral triangles. These go together to make one large equilateral triangle. The solution is provided. I feel this activity would be appropriate for Years 5 and 6 although I have created it for use with my Year 6 class.

Bee Bot Shape Mat & Challenge Cards

A shape mat for Bee Bots along with 30 A5 sized challenge cards. I've included mats that can be made on both A3 and A4 pages - there is a 3cm overlap on both edges to help with aligning. All comments welcome!

2D Shape Games

A series of 4 games designed to develop children's knowledge of properties of 2D shapes. I see them being laminated, with the only additional requirement being a die.

Mathematics APP Criteria on A3

(7)
The most likely mathematics levels used in a Primary School (1-5) placed over 5 A3 pages. The only changes are the addition of a column to add dates of assessments in, which I find useful, and the occasional change of font size to make it more readable. I would print them double sided to make it even more accessible.

0-100 Bead Number Line

I've been searching for a decent 0-100 bead line for a while now and struggled to find one I liked... so I made my own! Designed to be printed on A3, laminated and stuck together, this has three number lines in total. One side has 0-100 bead string and a divided line, the reverse has a counting stick. This is quite large, but it could be reduced to A4 pages in the printing settings.

Grammar, punctuation & spelling 2013 assessment

Here is a follow up to my spreadsheets to analyse the sample grammar, punctuation and spelling sample test. I've altered the spreadsheet to match the 2013 Year 6 paper to help analyse outcomes of the test and areas where children do well or need additional input. The spreadsheet will automatically level children for you, and a Pi Chart is included to show the levels reached, the number of children achieving that level and the percentage of the group reaching that level. The .xls version may not display the rankings as clearly as the .xlsx version.

Primary Computing Progression

A set of assessment tables for Primary Computing from Years 1 to 6 with a separate file for high attaining year 6 children. These were created to fit in the back of my children's Computing books. EDIT: A small error was found on the Year 6 pages (some repeated objectives). This has been fixed and new versions uploaded.

Labels for parallel, perpendicular and symmetry

(1)
I found that my classes have always needed some way of helping them to remember the differences between the terms parallel and perpendicular. Given that these are to be expected to be used from Year 3 upwards, I thought it would be useful to formalise my ideas and share them. There is nothing overly special here, but they work. Also included is a reminder about line symmetry. Comments are welcome!

Area Puzzles: Logic and Reasoning Resource

Pupils are asked to calculate the value of the question mark, whether that’s a length or an area. Five puzzles are included with illustrated answers. The only things to remember are: Area = length x width Promotes the use spatial reasoning to find helpful relationships Integers (whole numbers) are all you need. You can always get the answer without using fractions. I made this for my Year 6 class as part of a revision session. It is pretty challenging!
