The model text is useful as a WAGOLL for children to study before attempting to write their own version or continuing the model text.
This resource can be used when studying the novel Christophe’s Story or during a stand-alone lesson focusing on dialogue writing.

This fascinating exemplar explanation text describes the process of honey-making by honeybees. Pupils read the model text as a WAGOLL before analysing it and looking for features of explanation writing. The answers to the feature identification sheet are included for easy sharing in the classroom or online if remote learning.
Pupils can then use the example explanation text as a model for their own explanation writing.

Example text demonstrating dialogue writing with direct speech based on the novel Stig of the Dump by Clive King. It is based on Chapter 5 of the novel, when Barney speaks to the Snargets in Stig’s cave, but in the example, Stig has the ability to speak English and joins in the conversation. A writing feature identification worksheet, answer sheet and extract from Stig of the Dump are included.
Use the WAGOLL before pupils write their own versions or continue the model text.
This can be used when studying the novel Stig of the Dump or during a stand-alone lesson.
