JACKANORY is essentially four sketches linked by an overall framework of the two pupils – ‘Amy’ and ‘Ben’ – responsible for choosing the Year 6 production. Two cleaning ladies – Mrs Mopp and Mrs Tickle – also form a link between the sketches. However, no character appearing in one sketch appears in any other of the sketches. This makes rehearsals particularly easy even in the final scene – Act 2 Scene 5 – when the cast comes together only for the final few moments. All the productions I write are comedies.
