I use this as a first lesson worksheet (including easy mark table) and power point in a rotation as many year 7 students need to be taught the routines of the food room, once they have good routines thats half the battle. This lesson works well if you have got ready sinks full of dirty dishes ready for them to practice on in teams once you have gone through the power point. I also use the completed worksheet to indicate ability level in terms of literacy
A fab lesson that ticks alot of SLT and OFSTED criteria! Resource includes power point, cards for group work and worksheet. Aim of the lesson is that students work in groups of 3, each student has cards relating to one of the macronutrients and have to make notes on why we need to eat it and what is does in our bodies (each macronutrient has 2 cards, one for lower ability and one for higher ability) after a few minutes the cards are taken away and students have to feed back to the rest of their group so each member of the group has info about each of the macronutrients. They are then given 5 minutes quiet revision time before the test identifying the main macronutrients in key foods. Test is then peer assessed.
A lesson covering all the key scientific terminology in relation to Proteins, Carbs and Fats. I use this lesson after I have done the 3 science lessons (also on here) to get students to make a revision resource and also ensure they all understand the key terminology ready for NEA in year 11 and their exam.
Suitable for year 7 or 8 this lesson (Power point and worksheet) looks at real life health issues such as Obesity and Type 2 diabeties. Students have the opportunity to look at dishes or foods they may well eat on a regular basis and adapt them to make them healthier.
A really useful template that I have used to help some lower ability students structure their NEA 2. Covers the whole piece of work from research to time plan and evaluations
A checklist for students to either self assess or peer assess a GCSE time plan, written in student speak to help them understand what they need to do to improve in their coursework.
A recipe that I have evolved over the years making a Christmas Cake in a pan. Much easier than creaming and makes a lovely moist cake for the students to take home.
Works every time!
A really useful power point for teaching students to create an analytical evaluation rather than a descriptive one and to include technical and scientific language. This presentation has been made up using EDUQAS marking criteria for NEA 2. I use it with my students to also evaluate the dishes they have tested and trialled as part of Section A.
Full lesson which covers all the specification points for EDUQAS Food Prep and Nutrition functional properties of carbohydrates key scientific terminology. Includes practical activities to enable students to see the science in action as well as opportunities for written work.
Full lesson which covers Emulsification for EDUQAS Food Prep and Nutrition. Includes practical activitiy to enable students to see the science in action as well as opportunities for written work.

A scheme of work covering 20 lessons with outline lesson plans and numeracy and literacy. Recipes to go with this scheme can be found in the booklet in my shop. Many of the resources and power points are also available. The scheme introduces students to working in a school kitchen and meets the needs of the national curriculum as the main focus in on savory dishes.
A useful document to evidence marking and communication with students who are completing NEA, I write my feedback in purple and they respond in green. SLT love it as it shows knowledge of where each student is in terms of NEA completion.
