Buddhist Beliefs - Lesson 1 - Who was the Buddha?

This is a lesson that focuses on the birth of the Buddha and his life of luxury. There is a past exam question, a run through of the different types of questions so that pupils can have a go at making their own and swapping them, there is a story board task (with pictures already done for pupils) and there is chance for discussion. This is everything that pupils need to know for the AQA A Spec on this strand of the spec.

This lesson explores the ethical theories utilitarianism, Natural Moral Law and Situation Ethics in relation to the story of Bartolomew and The Ooblek. Pupils will explore the concept of forgiveness and the different religious views on this. There are independent, paired and discussion tasks.

This lesson is about the story of ‘The Sneetches’ and what moral problems come up in it e.g. racism and greed. Pupils have to apply the ethical systems of Natural Moral Law, Situation Ethics and Utilitarianism to the problems and explain what each theory would say to do. Pupils will also explore racism and look at the Anthony Walker case, looking at the religious beliefs too. There are paired, independent and discussion tasks throughout this lesson.

This is a lesson on the basics of Natural Moral Law, Utilitarianism and Situation Ethics. The lesson includes the trolley problem, a knowledge test, discussion and written tasks. There is also a clip at the end on Dr Seuss to see how he used ethical themes in his work.
