This two hour lesson focuses on the impact of the Pilgrimage of Grace. This lesson looks at the following for the Pilgrimage of Grace; How did Tudors deal with the Pilgrimage of Grace? The effects of the Pilgrimage of Grace on government and society Was the Tudor government seriously threatened by the Pilgrimage of Grace? The lesson also gets students to consider: Did the Pilgrimage of Grace slow down the pace of religious change? All of the above is detailed on a hand-out for students using a variety of historical books and historians views! Starter task: Horribly told histories! A fun retrieval quiz for students Main task: How did the Tudor government deal with the Pilgrimage of Grace? QUIZ! An 18 question multiple-choice quiz, students love this fun activity and it tests their knowledge! The quiz includes lots of additional information for students to write down. Finally there is a PRACTICE EXAM QUESTION: Evaluate the interpretations in both of the two passages and explain which you think is more convincing as an explanation of the impact of the Pilgrimage of Grace. To what extent can we understand causes of the rebellion by looking at each leader? Was PoG religious or secular? - Looking at different historians views and coming to our own conclusions Overall students will decide what the most important cause of the Pilgrimage of Grace was.
