Causes of Kett's and Western Rebellions 1549
For teaching OCR A Level Rebellion and Disorder in Tudor England 1485-1603
Whole lesson plus resources on the causes of the Year of Commotion 1549 - looking specifically at Kett’s and Western Rebellions.
Students will start by reviewing their previous learning with a ‘define, describe, date, detail’ retrieval grid.
Students will then look at the underlying causes of the rebellions using a card sort activity, sorting facts into:
Background
Economic and social policy
Foreign policy
Religious policy (this is followed up with more extensive discussion on the PPT and a YouTube video!)
Students will finally look at the causes of the Kett’s and Western Rebellions using information sheets (provided!). There is a choice of two activities, a role play task or sorting information into an A3 table. They will finish off with some summary questions.
