This activity basically describes more functions of the subjunctive in a nutshell in terms of fear, anxiety and forbidding and it contains step by step methods as to how to conjugate the irregular ‘-ir’ verbs such as ‘voir’, ‘sortir’, ‘partir’, ‘mentir’, ‘devoir’, ‘recevoir’, ‘tenir’, ‘ouvrir’, etc. Part 6 solely focuses on how to form irregular ‘-ir’ verbs in the subjunctive mood. I have developed this resource from having designed my own worksheets from the Cambridge IGCSE textbook (2015 edition) into a workbook. The listening activites follow the whole book from units 1-15 and most of them are differentiated between lower level and higher level activities, however as the book progresses, the less the lower level activites become available as I strongly encourage my students to undertake the same level of work upon entering the second year of the IGCSE programme, as the examinations are going to be at the same level. Verbs like ‘ne … rien’ and ‘ne … personne’ can be tricky to master, however this presentation explicitly depicts the formation of these negatives both in the present tense and in the perfect tense and reinforces the formation several times. There are differentiated quizzes which follow. This concept is geared towards students of IGCSE and the standard GCSE French programme. It is also good revision for students who are studying A-Level French.

Whether you are generally revising the perfect tense with reflexive verbs or teaching it for the first time, here is an activity that will give students a firm acquaintance with this concept or greatly revise it. This activity is suitable from Key Stage 3 onwards. The answers are also available with the activities. There are also some more complex material incorporated in this resource as such as the use of agreements, using a direct object with a reflexive verb and the use of 'se faire'. Quiz on Imperatives - Level 2 This more advanced quiz exclusively looks at the formation of imperatives in the following: Various expressions Expressions using ‘avoir’ Distinction between ‘connaitre’ and ‘savoir’ Verbs using ‘faire’ with nouns derived from associated verbs In this quiz, students need to distinguish which form of the imperative they need to use judging by the context of the sentence. Intransitive verbs - Level 2 This quiz exclusively looks at the seventeen verbs in French which use ‘etre’ as the helping verb in terms of: Opposite meanings (i.e. sortir - entrer, etc) Repeat verbs (repartir, ressortir, etc) It also briefly looks at some intransitive verbs which can become transitive. Students will be able to recall the verbs which use ‘etre’ in more depth, in particular if they have completed the level 1 quiz.
