This full lesson on the aftermath of the Battle of Hastings is part of the 1066 unit of study and would work well for both Primary or secondary students. The lesson focuses on the aftermath of the battle and the problems William had. It askes students to identify the problems through the analysis of a literacy piece and then evaluate a range of solutions for each of the problem. Finally students will be asked to justify their solutions through a writing piece and a plenary that looks to engage and build confidence. The activities have been build with Blooms taxonomy in mind and there is differentiation through for lower ability students and challenge questions for higher ability students. the worksheet includes: 1. This lesson aims to continue to explore the transatlantic slave trade with an emphasis on the Middle Passage and slave transportation. Students will be exploring the lesson with a particular emphasis on empathy and emotional understanding of the slave journey across the Atlantic. The lesson is part of the History National Curriculum for the United Kingdom under Expansion of the British Empire.
