These complete self- contained lessons assist teachers and students during the reading of The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas by John Boyne. This powerpoint resource consists of: learning objectives, settlers, starters, main activities and plenaries. Each lesson follows the novel in chronological order and is best followed, whilst reading. I have used this over the last couple of years and is a real success! This activity is working really well with my students. Divide the poems and themes up between players and they need to connect them all. E.g. Dominoes - alternate poem with theme. When connection is being made they must select a quote that supports their match. Extend task for higher ability, as they should be commenting on language techniques and effect on the reader. In response to many using the language techniques and devices resource, I saw the need for structure techniques too! I use this resource with all of my students and it really works! In no time, all of my students know all 18 structure devices off by heart and can comment on their purpose and effect. I don't want to teach you how to suck eggs but this is how I use them.
