A game to help pupils practice their high frequency keyword spellings. The first page - the game board - should be blown up to A3 size and I’ve laminated my copy. The keyword pages should be copied onto card and cut up. You will need a dice and a counter for each child playing (my class have used their mini robots that they created as part of our topic work).

A number problem for year 1 children to solve involving triangular numbers. We had been looking at different methods the children could use to solve number problems, e.g. drawing diagrams, using apparatus, making playdough models, etc.. They worked in pairs or small groups to encourage them to talk about their approach. The problem is easily differentiated by changing the final number. More able children and those in higher year groups could look at the pattern and think about rules for solving the problem regardless of the number given.

38 pages of Year 1 place value activities informed by the White Rose mastery document. The pages progress through concrete, pictorial and abstract activities and a teach, practise, apply approach. There are opportunities to practise with smaller numbers (0-10) and also larger numbers up to 100. A set of loop cards is included which need to be printed double-sided and cut out, as well as cards for a paired activity and plenty of worksheets. Personally, I cut out strips or blocks of the sheet to stick in the child’s book so that their books aren’t full of worksheets and/or half finished work. This Year 1 unit of maths work is for early on in Year 1. The learning journey focuses on learning to read and write the numbers 1 - 10 in numerals and words as well as counting to 30 forwards and backwards. These numbers are lower than the end of year (EOY) expectations for Year 1 but activities can easily be extended for more able pupils or if you are teaching this unit later in the year. NC objectives covered: • Count to and across 30 (EOY = 100), forward s and backwards, beginning with 0 or 1 or from any given number. • Count, read and write numbers to 50 in numerals. • Read and write numbers from 1-10 (EOY = 1-20) This unit includes: - a unit of work overview - an entry/exit pass for AfL - number frames and number cards (pupils pick a card and dot in the number frames) - editable pom-pom serving game (group game: pupils pick a card, 'waiter' has to serve the correct number and colour of pom-poms - use tweezers for fine motor skill practise!) - roll and write recording frame - shape investigation - shapes and instructions - rainbow spelling sheet - 1 - 10 in words bookmarks

Primary school SMSC assembly plan and presentation based on the word ‘Cultural’ and informed by the government’s advice document on promoting fundamental British values as part of Spiritual Moral Social and Cultural development in schools. The assembly helps children to understand the meaning of the words ‘cultural’ and ‘cultural diversity’. Bookmark targets cards in a variety of colours and with a range of headings, including a blank space for you to write on your own if preferred. The target cards include a 'Personal Best' box for children/teacher to record their achievement and attempt to improve upon it. E.g. I can use full stops correctly. PB - 5 (full stops used correctly). I've found 'PB's to be very motivating in the past! They also give children a sense of ownership and involvement with their targets.

Comprehensive KS2 unit of work on recounts based around a school trip or school event but could easily be adapted for other recount subject matter. The planning uses Red Nose Day as a model and was originally written for Year 3, also suitable for Year 4. The unit of 6 lessons follows the composition progression laid out in the National Curriculum - plan, draft and write, evaluate and edit, including proof-reading. Planning includes ideas for cutaway and pullback groups and EAL/SEN activities. All resources required to deliver the unit of work are included in this download. There are starter activities as pdfs, but if you would like to change any of these, or edit the success criteria to suit your class, there are also editable powerpoint slides for you to adapt. Practise counting in 2s, 5s and 10s with these fun Easter puzzles! Perfect for Year 1 and revision in Year 2. The pictures help children to access the activity independently. I encouraged my pupils to work systematically, looking for the lowest multiple and working up because those that didn’t were more prone to making errors. I thought they would walk this activity but there was enough challenge in there to keep them interested and engaged. Spotting errors was a good way to check their understanding. Children write the Easter story in their own keepsake booklet. There are 10 pages for writing on in total, including a reflection page at the end. Each page has simple illustrations for the children to colour and space to write about the Easter story. The booklet matches up with the images used in my Easter Story powerpoint: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/the-easter-story-powerpoint-11552562 Print the pdf as is, double-sided, and make sure you tick the ‘flip on the short edge’ option. The booklet will print out in the correct order and you simply need to fold the pages in half. Enjoy!

Explore the changing emotions of the Easter story through art with this complete lesson plan and resources. This is a great lesson for children in KS1. I have taught this a few times and it is a very memorable lesson that both the children and I enjoy immensely. The artwork is often thoughtful, moving and special, sparking great discussions and deep thinking. Try giving the children drawing the scene of Jesus on the cross some grey/black paper and red, black and white oil pastels (in contrast to the other groups who have all colours available to them) - it produces quite a startling effect. I hope you enjoy teaching this one too!
