This is designed to get you all set for planning and teaching beginning readers from Magenta to Gold (Levels 1-21) on the Reading Colour Wheel. This resource includes: > A Colour Wheel Reading Groups Template > For each of the Reading Levels (Magenta - Gold): Learning intentions with checkboxes written as ‘I can…’ statements Lists of high frequency words for students to learn at each of the colour levels. I would send these lists home with my students so they could practise reading and spelling them for homework. I would also have a booklet for each of my students at school which they would use for independent spelling practice and I would use for assessment to tick off what words they’d shown me they could read/spell. My students loved taking ownership of their learning this way and I’d often see them taking the initiative to get their high frequency word booklet during Writing lessons to check their spelling!
