BTEC Performing Arts Urban Fairy Tales Pack

This Powerpoint can be printed off and used as a basic devising log for a mixed ability BTEC class following the Urban Fairy Tales suggested brief for Unit 2: Preparation, Performance and Production. I have also included the beginning of our script, ‘Mandem in Wonderland’ which can be adapted by the students or used as a writing stimulus, as well as a scene overview including Bulgarian translation (made using Google Translate!). If each scene is improvised and refined, the running time should be about 30 minutes in total (2-3 minutes per scene). There is also an evaluation sheet for the final production.

Aimed at higher ability Key Stage 2 and 3 pupils, this scheme of work and accompanying Powerpoint presentation are intended to provide a framework for using Michael Morpurgo’s ‘Flamingo Boy’ as a class reader. Also included are ten sets of high ability spelling labels, one for each week of the unit, and a shortened version of ‘Around the World in Eighty Days’ by Jules Verne which is used in a summarising task. The resource is not intended to be exhaustive, leaving you room to customize as you see fit. Hopefully it will save you around ten hours of work if you do decide to choose ‘Flamingo Boy’ as your class reader. With themes such as autism, World War Two and travel, it is a truly captivating read with much to explore for an able group. Included in this resource pack: Ten-week scheme of work Powerpoint presentation 10 x weekly spelling labels for printing Shortened text for ‘Around the World in Eighty Days’
