SPANISH NUMBERS 0-31 I HAVE WHO HAS FREEBIE

PRIMARY SPANISH KS3 SPANISH NUMBERS 0-31 Tengo ¿Quién tiene? This is a whole-group lively & communicative language learning game, perfect for practising, reinforcing & refreshing how to count from 0 - 31 in Spanish. The game has a multi-skill focus: listening, speaking & reading, with an important bonus focus on social interaction and participation. It’s perfect for pronunciation practice too. The aim of the game is to create a Spanish number chain as quickly as possible, starting with the first card cero, and ending with the final card, treinta y uno. The game works just as well if the number sequence is placed on the floor, a longish table, or other flat surface. I created the game for my young beginner learners, but I’ve also played the game with my adult learners, who really enjoy it too - the monster theme is popular with everyone! The design is four cards per page, which allows for a large font - this is really important for beginner language learners who are starting to familiarize themselves with the written word. Try to print in color if you can - it adds to the visual appeal of the game, which is a real motivator for learning. Download, print out, laminate, cut out & shuffle the cards. I’d definitely recommend you laminate the cards, despite the extra prep and expense. They’re far more learner-friendly, and they will last for absolutely years. Distribute the cards, one or two per student, depending on how many students you have in your group. I often play too - students really do enjoy it when I join in, and they seem to work that little bit harder on their concentration, reading out loud and pronunciation. Students walk around the room, talking to each other in their best Spanish accent, sharing the information on their cards, until they have arranged the numbers in the correct order. The game works best played against a timer, regularly over a longer-term series of lessons - can students beat beat their own time record? I always do some high-speed counting warm-up activities, forwards & backwards, to get everyone ready to play! Have a browse in my store for more Spanish language learning games, and a wide range of other Spanish teaching and learning resources, with special offer bundles, resource boxes, and lots of freebies too! The resource is non-editable in a zipped format. It is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your classroom in any way. FRENCH IDIOMS POSTERS FREEBIE #1

GCSE FRENCH IDIOMS French Speaking Practice Encouraging students to speak can be quite challenging in the languages classroom, and I’ve found that even my more advanced learners can be quite reluctant, especially if the group is fairly large. I use a range of strategies to promote speaking, and idioms, proverbs and fun expressions which sound quite strange when translated literally are really popular - for example, we have regular competitions to see who can get the most idioms or expressions into dialogues and conversations. This works really well for students of all stages and ages. The posters show the literal translation, which generally sounds very odd, such as this particular idiom C’est pas tes oignons ! - It it not your onions! and the correct corresponding translation. We also discuss other possible translations into English, which helps them understand the concept of translation, and that there are potentially many correct ways of expressing meaning accurately. The posters also lend the learning environment a real French ambiance, promoting the everyday use of French. There are two backgrounds - the French flag looks great, but definitely uses a lot of ink, so you may prefer the poster without a background - this looks just as good! Keep checking back for more posters if you like them, as I have a huge collection! Have a browse in my store for more French classroom displays, and a wide range of other French teaching and learning activities, with special offer bundles, resource boxes, and lots of freebies too! GERMAN ANIMALS FLASHCARDS POSTERS #1

(0)
PRIMARY GERMAN KS3 GERMAN ANIMALS DEUTSCHE TIERE FLASHCARDS POSTERS These German animals display posters / flashcards create a fabulous German look and feel in the learning environment. I’ve found that this also helps promote German as a living language, featuring in the everyday life of beginner learners of German. They introduce learners to a range of animals in German from the very beginning of their learning, and they are able to familiarize themselves with how German words ‘look’, and how sounds are represented in the written form. My younger German students really love the animals posters, and like to compare the German and English words. I’ve found that they also help very young children develop their growing understanding of the animal kingdom. We don’t necessarily learn all the animals, but we do use them for pronunciation and speaking practice, and for memory games too. Students definitely notice the different words for the, and ask why some animals are der, and others are die or das. I’ve used this as a useful prompt to introduce the concept of gender. Use them as flashcards to introduce and practise language too - it’s a traditional and successful low-tech teaching method, which gives students a welcome break from the whiteboard - varying teaching methodologies in the language learning classroom is always a good idea, and I also encourage my students to take the role of the teacher too, which they find really motivating. There are 20 animals using the masculine, feminine and neuter definite article, which again is a great opportunity to begin to compare German and English, looking particularly closely at capitalization of nouns. I’ve chosen a couple of insects and birds, as well as animals that feature in very popular stories, such as Bär and Wolf. The animals are: bear; bee; bird; butterfly; cat; dog; fish; fox; frog;horse; kangaroo; monkey; mouse; owl; parrot; rabbit; spider; squirrel; turtle/tortoise; wolf There are two sets of 20 9.5x11 (A4) portrait posters, two backgrounds to choose from: animal footprint or German flag. I always laminate my posters / flashcards as they hang a lot better, are easier to manipulate as flashcards, and definitely remain in excellent condition for years. Have a browse in my store for more German flashcards / posters, and a wide range of other German language teaching and learning materials, with German resource boxes, special offer bundles, and lots of freebies too. The files are non-editable in a zipped format. The product is copyright, all rights reserved. PRIMARY SPANISH NUMBERS 0-21 WORKSHEET FREEBIE #1

(5)
PRIMARY SPANISH SPANISH FOR CHILDREN BEGINNER SPANISH NUMBERS 0-21 LOS NÚMEROS EN ESPAÑOL 0-21 WORKSHEET I like to have sets of super simple worksheets that I can give to my young beginner learners of Spanish, not only when they’re new to the target vocabulary, but also for refreshing and revising language they’ve learned some time ago. Students can generally more easily assimilate new language and vocabulary when they are able to link it in their memory with a visual image. The worksheet is useful for consolidating both number vocabulary and spelling, and students really enjoy testing their recall. This kind of worksheet is really versatile: I use for cover lessons, as starters, plenaries, five-minute refreshers and home learning activities. There are two versions to choose from - colour, which makes the worksheet really visually appealing, or BW, which saves prep expense, and is also a popular activity with younger students, who like to colour as they read aloud, write and practise their Spanish numbers. Students like to have this Primary Spanish Numbers 0-21 list freebie too, which is great for practising reading and checking spelling in Spanish: SPANISH NUMBERS 0-21 LIST FREEBIE https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/primary-spanish-numbers-0-21-list-freebie-12849290 Have a browse in my store for more Spanish vocabulary lists, and a wide range of other Spanish teaching and learning materials, with Spanish resource boxes, special offer bundles, and lots of freebies. FRENCH NUMBERS 0-100 CHALLENGE CARDS FREEBIE

(6)
KS3 FRENCH KS4 FRENCH NUMBERS 0-100 This is a free set of 12 French Numbers 0-100 Challenge Cards with answer key and recording sheet. You will be able to use them together with the full set, as these are marked with letters, rather than numbered. The full set description is as follows: French Numbers 0-100 Challenge Cards really do help to create a lively language learning environment. Students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their knowledge of French numbers in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. They have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping students familiarize themselves with, and develop competence in, speaking, reading, writing and spelling longer words in French. The translation questions are a great way of introducing beginner French learners to the concept of translation too. All questions are in French, and range in complexity and challenge, both in terms of language and number skills. I’ve used visual prompts and clues such as maths symbols to ensure all learners can engage with the questions, and this helps them to begin to***infer meaning from context***, and to decode cues and prompts to foster understanding. I don’t always allow the use of calculators to increase the challenge a little. Some questions focus specifically on French maths language, which students do not always engage with very often. The question card template enables students to apply their knowledge of language and arithmetic creatively and practically too. Revisit frequently for successful consolidation and learning. This freebie set comprises the following 3 files: 12 differentiated question cards, 6 per A4 (8.5 x 11) paper. Laminate if possible - they’re far more learner-friendly and last for absolutely years! 2-page answer recording sheet, best printed double-sided. I don’t always use a recording sheet - my students all have class workbooks, and they use those to work out their answers, and to note them down 2-page answer key, again best printed double-sided, and laminated for longevity. Answer keys are essential in my view - they create a more independent learning ethos in the classroom, and offer students and additional opportunity to engage with language. The set of 48 differentiated challenge cards French Numbers 0-100 (£3) is here: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/french-numbers-0-100-challenge-cards-11741540 The resource is non-editable in a zipped format. ENGLISH FOR GERMAN SPEAKERS ADJECTIVES LIST FREEBIE #1

ESL EFL ENGLISH FOR GERMAN SPEAKERS BEGINNER ENGLISH INTERMEDIATE ENGLISH ADJECTIVES LIST A great instant reference resource for students focusing on high-frequency English adjectives. I’ve found that the lists are a great learning support resource, and they’re really popular with students too. They work well when students keep them carefully in learning files or folders for current and future reference. They also work well printed double-sided and laminated for small-group work in class. This list is a first collection of 25 high-frequency English adjectives that I’ve found are ideal for beginner English into intermediate English learning programmes - it’s an important step in learning is to ensure that students quickly develop a useful English adjectives vocabulary bank, are able to recognise English adjectives, and are confident with the meaning of those adjectives in German - at that point we can move swiftly on to looking at comparing adjectives in English and German, most particularly the lack of adjectival endings and agreement in English, which is a new concept for German speakers. With a broader and richer adjectives vocabulary, students are able to produce more complex and descriptive language, and using the adjectives in a communicative and practical context, which is essential for progressing in language learning. The purpose of the list isn’t to simply learn all 25 adjectives by rote: it’s a longer-term reference resource that students use for example when they’re writing creatively, preparing written texts, or working with their talk partner to develop speaking skills. My students also use their vocabulary reference lists to help them audit their developing English vocabulary in general. There are two alphabetical lists - one English-German, and one German-English, as I’ve found that language learners prefer to have both as a reference resource. There are two backgrounds to choose from - England flag (which I tend to use as part of a grammar display), and black wave - students tell me that this makes vocabulary lists more visually appealing, which is really useful when they’ve got a lot of vocabulary to work through and learn. Have a browse in my store for more English vocabulary lists, and a wide range of other English teaching and learning resources, with English resource boxes, special offer bundles, and lots of freebies. This list is a collection of 35 high-frequency common English conjunctions and connectives that students will meet in the advanced beginner English to intermediate English stages of English learning programmes. It’s also useful as a vocabulary audit for students embarking upon advanced English. An important step in language learning is to ensure that students quickly develop a useful vocabulary bank, are able to recognise English conjunctions and connectives, and are confident with the meaning of those words in German, so that they can produce more detailed and descriptive language and more complex sentences as soon as possible. Students shouldn’t take on the task of learning 35 conjunctions and connectives all at once though - this is more of a longer-term reference resource that students can use to audit their developing English vocabulary, and it is definitely the case that frequent and regular use in real-world practical contexts is far more successful at embedding vocabulary into longer-term memory. ENGLISH FOR GERMAN SPEAKERS ENGLISH ANIMALS CARDS

ENGLISCH ESL EFL ENGLISH FOR GERMAN SPEAKERS ENGLISH FOR CHILDREN ENGLISH ANIMALS VOCABULARY CARDS learn a range of animals, and help to create a lively language learning environment. Children can develop their skills in word recognition and recall, pronunciation, speaking, listening and reading in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. They’re a great way of looking at the indefinite article in English, and comparing the concept of gender in both languages too. It doesn’t matter is any of the animals don’t feature in your immediate or even longer-term learning plan: the card games encourage children to engage happily and confidently with English, to identify cognates and near-cognates, and to begin to link spelling with sound in English. They also help learners begin to work out the meaning of unknown words using both visual clues and prompts, as well as linguistic indicators. There are 24 animals featured, across a series of decks, which enable you to vary and differentiate your games: Deck 1: picture and words cards, with both an image of, and the word for, the animal in English, which is useful for multi-skill learning, particularly in the introductory phase of learning animal vocabulary, and for familiarising students with the written word in English. Deck 2: picture-only cards, useful for vocabulary recall Deck 3: word-only cards in English, useful for word recognition, reading and spelling. Deck 4: word-only cards in German, useful for a variety of games focusing on vocabulary recall Deck 5: both English & German words on a single card, useful for close comparison of language, and recognition of corresponding words Laminate the cards if you can, even though it’s extra prep and expense, as they are far-more learner-friendly, and last for years, so it’s definitely worth it. I have a set with decks on different colour paper: although it can reduce challenge in games, for absolute beginners it’s very useful, and also ensures learners with additional needs have extra support so that they can participate fully in the games and activities. Remember to vary the decks in the games to ensure maximum differentiation and challenge. The animals featured are: a bee : a bird : a butterfly : a cat : a caterpillar : a chicken : a cow : a dog a donkey : a duck : a fish : a fox : a frog : a horse : a kangaroo : a monkey a mouse : an owl : a parrot : a pig : a rabbit : a sheep : a spider a turtle/tortoise Files are non-editable files in a zipped format. GERMAN SEPARABLE VERBS CONDITIONAL TENSE

(0)
GCSE GERMAN KS4 GERMAN KS3 GERMAN CONDITIONAL TENSE REGULAR VERBS CONJUGATION PRACTICE 25 high-frequency German separable verbs, 150 conjugation questions, 3 differentiated challenges, answer keys ideal for advanced KS3 German and KS4 German students who are beginning to work with compound sentences and longer texts, and generally developing their knowledge and understanding of conjugation and tense in German. The workbook focuses on the correct conjugation of verbs, rather than usage, but I definitely find it useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb conjugation. For example, although usage of the conditional tense in both English and German is largely similar, there are some differences, notably the position of the accompanying key verb in the infinitive form at the end of the clause or sentence, rather than directly following the auxiliary. Students also need to have a good grasp of the relevant auxiliary, in this case werden in the conditional tense. Conjugating werden in the conditional tense, and placing it together with the accompanying verb in the infinitive form is a fixed pattern, with which students become very familiar and confident the more they work with conjugation in this tense. The resource has the following structure: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: German-English and English-German. Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in German across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in German, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in German. Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding German verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt. Notes and Next Steps sheet, which encourages students to think about how their understanding of German conjugation works, what progress they have made, what their targets for improvement might realistically be, and what they might reasonably do in order to meet those targets. Students also note down any new verbs they discover, which enables them to build up a really sound verb vocabulary bank. answer key Have a browse in my store for more German grammar activities, and a wide range of other German teaching and learning resources, with special offer bundles and lots of freebies too! The fruits include masculine, feminine, singular and plural, with a blend of definite and indefinite articles - this really helps learners think a little more creatively about language, and their new Spanish vocabulary - they may learn la manzana, and it’s useful to give students opportunity to think about grammatical concepts, and how la becomes una for example. There is a Spanish to German grid, where learners are prompted with the Spanish word, and look for it in Spanish in the grid. For additional consolidation, the grid also features a German word list that they have to complete, really putting their knowledge to the test. Learners can tell in which direction the words are written by looking at the arrow key on the grid. Having a good bilingual dictionary to hand is also a good idea, as this provides a further focus on developing literacy in both Spanish and German, and facilitates learner independence. There is an answer key grid for the search grid, so that learners can check their answers - or use for a little extra help if they need it. Answer keys are really essential - they offer learners an additional opportunity to engage with language, develop more independence in their learning, and students genuinely enjoy ‘correcting’ their own, and particularly each others’ work. They’re a great teacher time-saver too, which is always a good thing! The word search is in landscape format, as this mirrors the common direction of reading and writing from left to right in both Spanish and German. I’ve found this to be the best format for beginner language learners, ensuring language is very clear and accessible. This kind of activity is really versatile too - I use for sub lessons, as starters, refreshers, plenaries or fun-time fillers at any time during the school year, as well as when I’m focusing on fruits in Spanish. PRIMARY SPANISH SPANISH FOR CHILDREN BEGINNER SPANISH NUMBERS 0-21 LOS NÚMEROS EN ESPAÑOL 0-21 LIST I like to give visual vocabulary lists to my young beginner learners of Spanish, as they can generally more easily assimilate new language and vocabulary when they are able to link it in their memory with a visual image. Children glue them into their Spanish vocabulary books, or file them in their Spanish vocabulary folders with other vocabulary lists, which gives them an accessible and useful Spanish vocabulary reference bank for both class and home learning. There are two versions to choose from - colour, which I use for Spanish vocabulary display, or BW, which saves prep expense, and is also a popular activity with younger students, who like to colour as they read aloud and practise their Spanish numbers. The sampler is free to download, but Terms of Use still apply. This sampler features five questions from Sets 1 & 2 of my English Speaking & Writing Prompts. They’re suitable for intermediate to advanced intermediate English Language Learning students. Speaking and writing are language skills that learners tend to find very challenging, and increased engagement with language that requires them to both reproduce language they are already familiar with, and to be creative with that language in order to produce new language is really beneficial. The questions in the sets are differentiated, addressing a broad range of ability, which aim to progress all learners. Tenses include present, future, near future, perfect and conditional. Question formats are likewise varied, to ensure maximum opportunity to work with the different ways to ask questions in English. Some questions seek to elicit very similar information, but are asked in different language: this avoids learners simply parroting learned responses to fixed prompts. The prompts are really versatile too, specifically with a focus on speaking and writing. There’s a 2-page prompts master list, which is useful as a general reference resource, and we also use it for reading aloud and pronunciation practice, discussing in what ways we might adapt and amend the questions to create new prompts. The prompts broadly address the following themes: college life & study; future plans; information technology; where I live; social & environmental issues; North America/UK & travel; social activity & daily life. I always remind my students that they do not have to ‘tell the truth’ in their responses! The important thing is to answer question correctly, appropriately and creatively. I encourage them to use the questions themselves as a frame of reference for their responses, and also when creating new prompts for each other, which is a really popular and successful activity too. I like to give visual vocabulary lists to my young beginner learners of Spanish, as they can generally more easily assimilate new language and vocabulary when they are able to link it in their memory with a visual image, and it’s particularly important to match a clock time with the corresponding clock face when learning how to tell time. Children glue the lists into their Spanish vocabulary books, or file them in their Spanish vocabulary folders with other vocabulary lists, which gives them an accessible and useful Spanish vocabulary reference bank for both class and home learning. For young and / or beginner Spanish learners, I focus initially on a single time set, and this list shows half past the hour on a single page. This is because in my experience students benefit from a very clear outline of new language and vocabulary, avoiding lots of text on a single page - even my older students who are completely new to Spanish prefer this. When I’m sure that students are confident with a particular time set, I then move on to additional time sets. There are two backgrounds to choose from - Spanish flag, which I use for Spanish vocabulary display, or plain. **Try this super simple worksheets freebie, focusing on how to tell the time in Spanish half past the hour: HOW TO TELL THE TIME IN SPANISH : HALF PAST THE HOUR WORKSHEETS FREEBIE https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/spanish-telling-the-time-half-past-worksheets-freebie-12866227 Have a browse in my store for more Spanish visual vocabulary lists, and a wide range of other Spanish teaching and learning materials, with Spanish resource boxes, special offer bundles, and lots of freebies. ¡MUCHAS GRACIAS Y BUEN APRENDIZAJE!

I like to have sets of super simple worksheets that I can give to my young beginner learners of Spanish, not only when they’re new to the target vocabulary, but also for refreshing and revising language they’ve learnt some time ago. Students can generally more easily assimilate new language and vocabulary when they are able to link it in their memory with a visual image, and it’s particularly important to match a clock time with the corresponding clock face when learning how to tell time. I give my students these worksheets at the same time as introducing quarter to the hour in Spanish, so that they can practise and embed both recognizing the time, and writing the time phrase itself. Students really enjoy the opportunity to test their recall too. The worksheets are useful in a number of contexts: I use them for cover lessons, as starters, plenaries, five-minute refreshers and home learning activities. I occasionally use them for more formal assessment purposes too.
