GCSE FRENCH NEAR FUTURE TENSE -ER VERBS CONJUGATION PRACTICE, featuring 25 high-frequency French -ER verbs. I've used these kinds of quick conjugation workbooks for years with my students, and they find them really useful. They like to practise the conjugations regularly across the school year, and with the answer key, they're able to work and learn completely independently. The workbook's really versatile - I use them in lots of different contexts, for example for directed practice when I'm introducing the near future tense, for free-choice class time, for vacation practice, for home learning and for sub lessons.
The 10-page workbook has this structure:
* Two alphabetical verb reference lists: French-English and English-French
* Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations:
CHALLENGE 1: each verb conjugated in French across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation
CHALLENGE 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in French, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in French
CHALLENGE 3: students write the corresponding French verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt
There's a Notes and Next Steps template which students visit regularly - it really does encourage them to think about where they are now, how confident they feel, and what they might need to work on a little more to be absolutely sure of their conjugation skills. We also note down any new verbs we meet, which enables students to build up their own verb vocab bank. It's a great tool to guide and inform whole-group discussion about learning and progress in general, which is a really successful and popular activity. Each workbook has an accompanying 6-page answer key book - this is absolutely essential in my opinion - answer keys help students develop more insight and independence in their learning, and of course, self and peer assessing does give them a further opportunity to engage with the conjugations - additionally, they really enjoy correcting each others' work!

25 high-frequency French ER verbs in the present tense; 6 worksheets, three differentiated conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations, in two design formats:
= Workbook Format: 10-page workbook, with cover page, verbs lists, six worksheets and Notes, Next Steps and New Verbs page, where students note any points they’d like to work more on, map their progress and list any new French ER verbs they learn, which helps them develop a really useful French verb bank.
= Worksheet Format: worksheets can be printed out individually, or as a pack without the cover page, verbs lists and progress template, useful for quick revision, refresher, starters / finishers, and also generally saves on prep costs
The answer key is a separate file with six pages, and I generally print this out as a pack for classwork, with groups of students sharing an individual pack.
The worksheets also address a broad range of vocabulary and grammar points, such as direct / indirect object pronouns, negative sentences, use of depuis & present tense and various question formats. Students may not have engaged with all the language used at this stage, and this makes the activity equally about engaging with new language, as well as practising and reinforcing the current language focus.
There are three differentiated conjugation challenges:
= Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in sentence format across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding translation. Translating accurately is an important skill for language learners to engage with and master, and this kind of focused practice is really useful for them.
= Conjugation Challenge 2: straightforward conjugation drill: each question gives a French infinitive and a target pronoun. Students write the corresponding French verb conjugation.
= Conjugation Challenge 3: mirrors Challenge 1, with an increased challenge. Students write the French translation from a basic English sentence, to ensure that they are able to produce as well as recognise both the correct conjugation and an accurate translation.

FRENCH ER VERBS IMPERFECT TENSE CONJUGATION PRACTICE FOCUSING ON 25 FRENCH -ER VERBS My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I've found it's really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. There are 150 conjugations across 3 differentiated conjugation challenges with a full answer key. I use these kinds of workbooks in lots of different ways: for practice during the introduction phase, for independent choice in class time, for home learning, for practice and revision during vacation and at return to class, and for cover lessons - they're really versatile, and ideal for advanced beginner to intermediate French students who want to practice and refresh their conjugation skills in French, and work on the imperfect tense a little more. The workbooks focus on the mechanics of conjugation, rather than usage, and I've found that when my students are able to provide the correct conjugation very quickly, and out of a specific context, they feel really confident that their conjugation skills are developing well.
The resource is structured as follows:
* Two alphabetical verb reference lists: French-English and English-French.
* Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations:
Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in French across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation.
Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in French, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in French.

The activities really do help to create a lively language learning environment for young learners of Spanish, and offer a popular alternative to more traditional, teacher-led ’information about Spain’ lessons. Children can develop their knowledge of the Hispanic world - and through guided whole-group discussion - their home / host country too, in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, in part independently of the teacher. There is a bonus multi-focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading, writing and spelling, and is a great way of aligning language learning with developing literacy skills in English.
The resource comprises the following non-editable files:
* 20 facts cards - there are four facts in each of the following topic groups: geography, country, landmarks, language and food. There are blank templates for children to research and create their own facts cards for each other.
* Facts recording sheet challenge level 1 - there are two options: either two or four fact recording boxes per page. Children read their selected facts, and copy the information in the boxes.
* Facts recording sheet challenge level 2 - there are also two options: two or four fact recording boxes in this challenge level. However, there is a more open-ended task: responding to the question “What did you learn?”. This requires children to read their fact card, process the information, and then recreate it in their own words, describing the fact in the context of what they have learned.
* 28 question / comprehension cards — the questions have a differentiated range of challenge, and are based on the knowledge developed through the whole-group presentation and discussion, and the facts cards. There is one ’independent research’ question, which I use as a springboard for further discussion based on children’s own developing interests about Spain. There are blank templates here too - creating questions is a great way to think about and apply knowledge and learning.
* question / comprehension cards recording sheet
* whole-group facts presentation & discussion

An instant introduction to the scope of the Francophone world, promoting French as a living language, spoken widely across the world, and featuring in the everyday life of the learning environment. There are countries or regions where a significant number of the population speak French as either their first or second language, such as Viet Nam. Each flashcards / poster shows the continent, country and capital city in French, and its national flag.
There may be a number of countries and capital cities that students do not know, or are not aware of, so the word wall definitely helps them fully develop their general awareness, knowledge and understanding of Les pays francophones - students are often genuinely amazed at the scope of the French-speaking world - French is spoken on every continent! I’ve used the definite article, as I’ve found that this helps embed the concept of gender in French, and that proper nouns, such as countries, are subject to gender agreement rules too.
The flashcards / posters are 8.5 x 11 (A4) portrait size. There are two backgrounds to choose from - French flag or plain, so 80 flashcards / posters in total. I always print on card stock and / or laminate my flashcards / posters, as they display much more effectively, are easier to manipulate as flashcards, and remain in excellent condition for years.

PERFECT FOR CREATING AN INSTANT INTRODUCTION TO GERMAN NUMBERS IN YOUR PRIMARY GERMAN CLASSROOM - GREAT FOR READING, SPEAKING AND PRONUNCIATION PROMPTS TOO! These German Numbers 1-20 flashcards / posters create a fabulous German feel to your classroom. Using flashcards to introduce and practise language is a really successful directed teaching and learning activity. Giving your learning environment German ’look’ also promotes German as a living language, featuring in the everyday life of the school.
The posters / flashcards introduce learners to Numbers 1-20 in German from the very beginning of their learning, and they are able to familiarize themselves with both the ‘look’ of German words, how those are represented in the written form, giving them the opportunity to begin to link spelling with sound in German. The posters work well with older students in their first German lessons too! I use the posters for spelling and mental maths games in German, and vocab quizzes too - the font is definitely big enough to be seen from all over the classroom. I also use the German-theme images to promote discussion about life in Germany, German traditions and so on, really getting the most from the learning display posters.
There are two backgrounds to choose from - German flag or black wave, so 40 posters/flashcards in total.
The resource consists of non-editable files in a zipped format; please read the Terms of Use carefully - the resource is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only.

PRIMARY LATIN NUMBERS ROMAN NUMERALS 1-20 POSTERS FLASHCARDS My young Latin learners love the colourful display, which give the classroom a great Latin look and feel. Giving your learning environment a Latin ’look’ also promotes Latin as a ’real’ language, featuring in the everyday life of the students. We use them for counting, spelling and memory games too. They're also ideal as flashcards, and I often use them to introduce and practise language, particularly with smaller groups, as I don't like to use the whiteboard all the time. Using flashcards to introduce and practise language is a really successful directed teaching and learning activity.
I like to vary the words for Latin numbers with Roman Numerals - it's a fantastic way of developing both language and numeracy skills in general. The flashcards/posters introduce learners to Numbers 1-20 & Roman Numerals in Latin from the very beginning of their learning, and they are able to familiarise themselves with both the ‘look’ of Latin words, and how they are represented in the written form. Additionally, they provide an opportunity to create some great cross-curricular activities with maths! I’ve used some generic images, and well as some with a classical civilisation feel, which we use to discuss both Roman and Greek civilisation. There are two backgrounds to choose from: colour or black wave. Laminate and/or print on card stock - the posters will last for years, and they're definitely easier to manipulate as flashcards.

EUROPE GENERAL KNOWLEDGE QUIZ
Files are non-editable in a zipped format. The product is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use.
This general knowledge quiz focuses on Europe. Students can broaden and develop their knowledge of Europe in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. The quizzes work well as a whole-group team quiz, and are also perfect for pair or small-group activities.
The quizzes are for older students, who have a more developed understanding, knowledge and awareness of the world. Some responses will be generally well-known to students, others less so, as the questions range from basic general knowledge to more specialized factual knowledge. This ensures that the activity is equally about reflecting on what students know, as it is about what they can learn. In this way, the quizzes aim not only to consolidate existing knowledge, but also to enable students to learn more about Europe. The questions and answers also provide a comprehensive framework for further exploration of Europe, which both broadens and enriches the learning experience.
I generally give students multiple opportunities over the school year to play the quizzes. Before we play, I always screen a clear map of Europe, to ensure that students can visualize it in its entirety, the location of individual countries within it, and in relation to each other. This provides an important learning context for students. The quiz opens with general questions about Europe, and then moves on to questions about a range of individual European countries.
There are 80 questions across two challenges:
Challenge 1: 56 multiple-choice questions, with four response options to choose from. The correct response is in capital letters.
Challenge 2: 24 questions in TRUE / FALSE format. Where the answer is false, students should additionally give the correct response. Some of these questions align with the topics / themes in Challenge 1, but some address entirely different ones. I usually work with this challenge after Challenge 1, as I’ve found that it maximises opportunity for learning.
The questions address and topics such as: music and the Arts; daily life; famous figures; geography; history; landmarks; language and linguistics; literature; politics; science; social history; society
This is the General Knowledge Europe Quiz edition of the European Day of Languages Europe Quiz #1 - please ensure you haven’t already purchased that edition.
Laminate the cards if you can - they are easier to manipulate, and remain in excellent condition for years.

GERMAN CITIES WORD SEARCHES - FIVE DIFFERENTIATED GERMAN CITIES WORD SEARCHES WITH ANSWER KEYS AND GRID TEMPLATE - PERFECT FOR DEVELOPING GERMAN LANGUAGE SKILLS AND DISCOVERING MAJOR CITIES IN GERMANY
Word searches are great for encouraging students to engage with the written word in German - they refresh and reinforce language as they complete each grid. Students get a really good introduction to, and overview of, the geography of Germany and a range of major German cities in a slightly different way. We talk about other cities and towns students may know or discover too. With this set, each grid increases in challenge, and students can tell in which direction the words are written by looking at the arrow key.
I always give my students answer keys for these types of activity - it’s an additional opportunity to engage with language, it helps them develop more independence in their learning, and they genuinely enjoy ‘correcting’ their own and especially each others’ work. The templates help students apply their knowledge of language more creatively and practically - and they can include cities they discover too. The reference sheet works well as a long-term reference resource, not just for these particular word searches. I use word searches in a range of contexts, not only when we’re looking specifically at the focus language - they’re great for starters, for free-choice activities, for sub lessons and so on.

PRIMARY FRENCH VOCABULARY - PERFECT FOR DEVELOPING LANGUAGE SKILLS AND PRACTISING VOCABULARY IN FRENCH - 40 ESSENTIAL WORDS AND PHRASES!
These quizzes really do help to create a lively language learning environment, and offer a popular alternative to more traditional vocabulary ‘drilling’ activities. Children can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their PRIMARY FRENCH vocabulary in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, in part independently of the teacher.
The quizzes have a bonus multi-focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading, writing and spelling. It doesn’t matter if the featured vocabulary doesn’t correspond exactly to the language in your past, current, short or even longer-term learning plans - the quizzes are a great way of encouraging children to engage with both familiar and new language. Use during lessons which focus specifically on these vocabulary groups, as well as as starters, plenaries or ’pick-me-ups’ at any time during the school year for maximum benefit!
This set features words and phrases in the following vocabulary groups:
