BEGINNER ITALIAN INTERMEDIATE ITALIAN PERFECT TENSE ERE VERBS CONJUGATION PRACTICE FOCUS ON 25 HIGH-FREQUENCY ITALIAN -ERE VERBS My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. There are 150 conjugations across 3 differentiated conjugation challenges. I use these kinds of workbooks in lots of different ways: for practice during the introduction phase, for independent choice in class time, for home learning, for practice and revision during vacation and at return to class, and for cover lessons - they’re really versatile, and ideal for advanced beginner Italian students who are beginning to work with more complex texts which don’t focus solely on the present tense, and Though the workbook focuses solely on the correct conjugation of verbs, and does not look at word order in the context of full sentences, there are conjugation patterns that students can learn, recognise and apply, ensuring that their spoken and written Italian is accurate, and that their understanding of Italian across the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing is robust. The resource is structured as follows: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: Italian-English and English-Italian. Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in Italian across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in Italian, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in Italian. Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding Italian verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt. Notes and Next Steps template which students visit regularly - it really does encourage them to think about where they are now, how confident they feel, and what they might need to work on a little more to be absolutely sure of their conjugation skills. We also note down any new verbs we meet, which enables students to build up their own verb vocabulary bank. answer key Try this free Italian conjugation workbook sampler to see if it’s the kind of learning activity that will work well for your students: ITALIAN CONJUGATION PRACTICE SAMPLER https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/italian-conjugation-practice-sampler-12507124 The product is non-editable in a zipped format. GEOGRAPHY AFRICAN COUNTRIES, CAPITAL CITIES & FLAGS FLASHCARDS POSTERS an instant and comprehensive introduction to Africa, perfect for developing locational knowledge, as well as awareness of world countries and continents Create an instant introduction to Africa and brighten up your learning environment with this set of 54 posters / flashcards showing African countries, capital cities and flags . They also give your classroom a great multicultural look and feel. They are a really useful visual prompt when you are discussing world geography in general, and Africa in particular. There may be a number of countries and capital cities that students do not know, or are not aware of, so the posters help students develop their general awareness, knowledge and understanding of Africa and its geography. Use them as flashcards to introduce and practice the countries, capitals and flags too - it’s a traditional and successful low-tech teaching method, which gives students a welcome break from the whiteboard - varying teaching methodologies in the language learning classroom is always a good idea, and I also encourage my students to take the role of the teacher too, which they find really motivating. The posters can be displayed horizontally across a particular learning area - alphabetically works well, though non-alphabetically is perfect for a country quest activity. There are two backgrounds to choose from - world map or black wave. I always laminate my posters / flashcards, as they are far easier to use, and they do last for years, so it’s definitely worth the extra prep time and expense. My students find this list of Africa Countries & Capital Cities useful too - it’s free to download here: AFRICA COUNTRIES AND CAPITAL CITIES REFERENCE LIST https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/geography-africa-countries-and-capital-cities-list-12446712 Have a browse in my store for more Geography posters / flashcards, and a wide range of other geography teaching and learning materials, with dollar deals, special offer bundles, and lots of freebies too! ENGLISH NUMBERS 0-31 TASK CARDS

ESL EFL ENGLISH NUMBERS 0-31 English Numbers 0-31 Task Cards really do help to create a lively language learning environment. Students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their knowledge of English and English numbers in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. The questions have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping students familiarize themselves with, and develop competence in,* speaking, reading, writing and spelling longer words in English*. The cards are useful not only when you’re focusing on Numbers 0-31, but also as an all-year-round starter, plenary and general ‘pick-me-up’ activity, as the goal is not simply to learn numbers in English, but also to develop English Language skills in general, to enjoy working with English, and to feel confident about doing so. There’s definitely a UK theme running through many of the questions, featuring questions about fish and chips and the Loch Ness Monster for example. The questions range in complexity and challenge, and are great for honing numeracy skills too - especially if calculators are not allowed! The questions are all in English, which in itself is a really useful comprehension activity. Depending on your students, reading the questions together first to check for understanding is a good idea. There’s a question card template too - students genuinely enjoy creating questions for each other, and it allows them to apply language practically and creatively. The answer key provides learners with an additional opportunity to engage with language, and also helps them develop more independence in their learning. They genuinely enjoy correcting their own and each others’ work - and it’s a great teacher-time saver too! The resource comprises the following: = Set of 36 cards, 4 per A4 (8.5 x 11) paper. Print, laminate and cut out. = answer key and answer recording sheet Have a browse in my store for more ESL EFL English Language inependent learning activities, with a wide range of other English Language teaching and learning resources, with special offer bundles, and lots of freebies too! USA STATES & CAPITALS QUIZ

GEOGRAPHY USA STATES & CAPITALS ALL THE US STATES AND THEIR CAPITALS two quizzes with 100 multiple-choice questions There are two multiple choice quizzes, each with 50 questions, so 100 questions in total. The structure of the question in Quiz 1 is: The capital of Alabama is… and there are three possible options given - the correct answer is in capital letters. The structure of the question in Quiz 2 is: Montgomery is the capital of… again with three possible answer options, with the correct answer in capital letters. I laminate the cards, because they do last for years, and are far easier to handle. I put the question cards in a box or tin, and select cards randomly - sometimes I have a single quiz in the box, and sometimes I have both quizzes. We do play them quite often, as students really enjoy the competitive element, and it does help recall. The quizzes also work well when students ask the questions. Teams continue to get questions as long as they give the correct answer — you can have as many teams as suits your class - we also play in pairs too, especially if we’re playing a number of different quizzes at the same time. I’ve added 8 general knowledge questions too, so that there are six full questions on the final sheet, and in that way, there’s no wasted paper or laminate sheet. The question cards do look good with the color background, and there’s a different background for each quiz, but to keep costs down, I’ve also included a set with no background. My students also find reference resources really useful - download this list of all the states and capitals of the USA for free here: STATES AND CAPITALS OF THE USA REFERENCE LIST https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/resource-12507876 The resource has two non-editable files in a zipped format. FRENCH FRUITS WORD SEARCHES #1

FSL FLE FRENCH FRUITS WORD SEARCHES Mots Cachés are a fabulous way of encouraging learners to engage with the written word in French, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This set features ten differentiated word searches, focusing on 25 fruits in French, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. The fruits include masculine, feminine, singular and plural, with a blend of definite and indefinite articles - this really helps learners think a little more laterally about language, and their new vocab - they may learn la pomme for example, and it’s useful to give students opportunity to think about grammatical concepts, and how la becomes une for example. I’ve selected high-frequency fruits, such as apple or pear, and also fruits which may be new to some learners, such as redcurrant or starfruit. There are a range of phonemes and sounds too, such as the silent ll (groseille) and the use of the plural before a vowel, to show that the letter s isn’t always silent, for example les ananas or les olives. There are 5 French to French grids, labelled with a lemon, where learners are prompted with the French words, and look for them in French in the grid. For additional consolidation, each grid also features an English word list that they have to complete, really putting their knowledge to the test! There are also 5 English to French grids, labelled with a raspberry, where the prompt words are given in English, and learners have to find the French equivalent in the grid. For additional consolidation and practice in writing/spelling in French, they also complete the French word list on each page. Learners can tell in which direction the words are written by looking at the arrow key on each grid. There is an answer grid for each word search, so that learners can check their answers - or use for a little extra help if they need it. The word searches are in landscape format, as I’ve found this to be the best format for beginner learners of French. Use as starters, refreshers, plenaries or fun-time fillers at any time during the school year, as well as when you’re introducing fruits in French. Try this French fruits word search freebie- it will give you a good idea of whether the word searches would work well for your students: FRENCH FRUITS WORD SEARCHES FREEBIE https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/resource-12510002 The resource is non-editable in a zipped format. FSL FLE FRENCH CONDITIONAL TENSE FOCUSING ON 25 HIGH-FREQUENCY FRENCH VERBS My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. There are 150 conjugations across 3 differentiated conjugation challenges, answer key and verb lists. The workbook focuses on formation and conjugation, rather than usage, though it’s definitely useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb formation and conjugation. For example, language learners do often try to conflate what they know about conjugation in their first language, and the language they are learning, and with students whose first language is English, I frequently see students looking for a word that is the equivalent of would, until they familiarise themselves with the fact that the notion of conditional is indicated in the verb ending. It’s also easy to confuse the simple future tense endings with the conditional tense endings, and targeted practice helps to address that really well. The format is as follows: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: French-English and English-French. Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in French across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in French, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in French. Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding French verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt. Notes and Next Steps, which encourages students to think about how their understanding of French conjugation works, reflect on what progress they have made, what their targets for improvement might realistically be, and what they might reasonably do in order to meet those targets. answer key Have a browse in my store for more French grammar activities, with a wide range of French language teaching and learning materials, with special offer bundles and lots of freebies too! The workbook focuses on formation and conjugation, rather than usage, though it’s definitely useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb formation and conjugation. For example, language learners do often try to conflate what they know about grammar in their first language, with the grammar of the language they are learning. Students with English as a first language for example often look for a direct equivalent of will, similar to when they first meet the future tense, or using***avoir*** instead of***être*** for verbs which require être as the auxiliary. Students do need to to have a good grasp of the auxiliary verbs être and avoir in the future tense as well as the patterns in forming past participles, to ensure that they can form the future perfect tense accurately. There are 150 conjugations across 3 differentiated conjugation challenges with complete answer key. The workbook focuses on the mechanics of conjugation, rather than usage, but I find it useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb conjugation. For example, language learners do often try to conflate what they know about grammar in their first language with the language they are learning, and with students whose first language is English, I frequently see students confusing the use of the auxiliaries avoir and être for example. FRENCH ER VERBS IMPERFECT TENSE

BEGINNER FRENCH INTERMEDIATE FRENCH IMPERFECT TENSE CONJUGATION PRACTICE featuring 25 high-frequency French -ER verbs My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. There are 150 conjugations across 3 differentiated conjugation challenges with complete answer key. The workbook focuses on formation and conjugation, rather than usage, though it’s definitely useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb formation and conjugation. Language learners tend to conflate what they know about grammar in their first language with the grammar of the language they are learning. For example, students with English as a first language frequently use j’étais travailler instead of je travaillais as a translation of I was working, and they look for a direct equivalent of the notion of used to…, before they embed the knowledge that this is implicit in the tense itself. There are specific differences in usage between English and French with this tense, and I do always discuss this with students about this when we’re using the workbooks - I tend to work fairly simultaneously with le passé composé and l’imparfait, because students are better able to understand correct usage when they look at a range of past tense contexts together. The resource is structured as follows: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: French-English and English-French Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in French across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in French, specifying the target pronoun.
