History Maya knowledge organiser

This knowledge organizer is for the ancient Maya civilization. It has key vocabulary, fun facts, key dates. There is also a place where children can write their favorite fact or learning. I was going to place a map on there but the first thing that children do is map work so I wanted to make it specific to what the children may not learn and also input the purpose of the history learning e.g. cause and effect.

Electricity KS2 key vocabulary cards

Key vocabulary cards for KS2 electricity unit. These can be used for display, recall, revision and EAL support. Created by me, so if there is a particular electricity vocab which I haven’t used, please let me know and I will create it in the same style. These cards have the electricity vocab, a synonym for said vocab, a diagram/picture, definition and used in a sentence.

This lesson is lesson 2 / 5 where children will explore what a compound sentence is. I used superhero cartoon to represent the main clause which you can input your own. I had children create the character I then inputed it into the slides. This pp defines what a compound sentence is, spotting them and which coordinating conjunction should be used when and when and where to use the comma. I had great results with these lessons and it really improved and helped students punctuation.

KS2 English grammar starter lessons - commas for complex sentences

Here is a group of 5 lessons to help and show children how to use commas in complex sentences. I have used these for lessons in both year 5 (main grammar starters and year 6 (as revision starters). Each lesson comes with an LO and a small task, which can be done on white boards or in books. These lessons follow one after the other using recall to help cement knowledge. Brief LO for each PP: 1st lesson - explore simple sentences (main clauses) 2nd lesson - commas for compound sentences 3rd lesson - continue commas for compound sentences 4th lesson - explore complex sentences (subordinate clause) 5th lesson - complex sentences (write subordinate clauses) I had a super hero represent the main clause (Captain Main Clause). And another super hero side kick to represent the subordinate clause. I held a little art homework or extra activity for children to design and draw me a super hero for English. You could do this too or use one from online. Just replace the boxes representing the characters with your own.
