Odd and Even Numbers Worksheets & Activities

Are you looking for engaging ways to help your students understand odd and even numbers? These odd and even numbers worksheets are no-prep activities to save you valuable time and help your students gain a deeper understanding of odd and even numbers and how they support mathematical thinking. Benefits: Understanding the rules of odd and even numbers goes beyond memorising equations like “odd + odd = even”. Here’s why it’s beneficial: Knowing if a number is even lets you quickly predict results of certain operations. For example, you know adding an even number to any number won’t change its odd/even property (even + even = even, even + odd = odd). This makes many calculations faster and easier. Even numbers are divisible by 2. Understanding even/odd lays the groundwork for learning divisibility rules for other numbers. Classifying numbers as odd or even helps with grouping and sorting problems. You can quickly identify which numbers can be paired together and which ones will be left out. Odd and even form a basic number pattern. Recognizing this pattern helps develop logical thinking skills, which are crucial throughout mathematics. What’s inside: What are odd and even numbers? - Odd or even? How it works: For those who struggle to recall times tables, it is useful to provide strategies to help them to calculate the answer efficiently. This can be done by building on the table known as key facts: 1x, 2x, 5x and 10x tables. This resource introduces the concept using cards which have counters arranged in groups of 7, repeated addition, multiplication and finally the solution. This thinking can easily be extended to find solutions outside the normal times tables e.g. 15 x 7 can be calculated using (10x7) + (5x7). When students are comfortable using the cards to support the 7x table, they can use the 5x + 2x method to complete the 7x table row of the multiplication chart.
