Introduction to philosophy focusing on ultimate questions and exploring the versatility of viewpoints in and outside of the classroom. This is a lesson aimed at KS3, specifically year 8 but would easily work for year 9. This is an opening lesson to a 7 lesson unit but can be used as a standalone lesson to explore and introduce philosophical thinking to learners. KS4 AQA Islamic beliefs - Ibrahim 1.8.This is a lesson about Ibrahim and his role within Islam. It follows the AQA spec and includes information, links, questioning and a video with supporting A3 printout for the completion of a 9-part flow chart about Ibrahim.

This contains 26 individual revision cards, covering each topic and key area across the AQA Islam spec for paper 1 - both beliefs and practices. Many include good supporting quotes (not all), and an image that links.

This is a PowerPoint reflecting over the year using a top 30 grid, an ‘No-Pub quiz’ and then an introduction to ‘No-Beer Pong’. This lesson is a fun end of year activity based around recall. Aimed at Year 9/10/11 focused on Christian Beliefs (there is one question about Buddhism that you may want to change). To do beer pong you will require the cups and ping pong balls but this task can be left out as the No-Pub Quiz is quite long. Supporting Quiz card for writing answers and Top 30 grid included.

This is a timeline of the key events that surpressed the Jews and diminshed their rights under the Nazi Regime. It ranges from 1930 to 1965 and the Vaticans response highlighting anti-semetic events. Could be used in a variety of ways, I have used it to start the debate topic of ‘Was Christianity responsible’ to give pupils a clear timeline to refer back to of events that led to mass killing. I will upload a 2 hour lesson to support this debate soon.

This is a powerpoint for KS4 Christianity on resurrection and life after death opening lesson. Discussions activities about pupil thoughts. Primary key Scripture with book task included. Starter and plenary for gauging personal thoughts to begin and summative triangle to end.

This is a unit of work for year 9 (KS3) on Buddhism covering origins, The Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path, Worship and Festivals and an End of Unit recap bringing in the precepts. There is an extra lesson on Self-immolation where appropriate. This could easily be used for KS4. Included is also a knowledge bank as a unit overview.

This lesson follows on in the unit - focusing on a variety of activities to understand the Buddha’s teachings. This includes key terms, analogies, ordering, opinions etc. It also includes a printout file.

This is a lesson on Islamic beliefs - Angels (1.4) which follows the AQA spec. This includes information, questioning and a practice 12-marker. It then requires self-assessment using the mark-scheme so that students can get an idea on what is being looked at by an examiner, I cannot upload the mark-scheme as it is the AQA official one, but it is easily found on their website.

This is a lesson on Islamic beliefs about predestination (1.5), which follows the AQA exam spec. It includes information, questioning, links, denominational differences, sources of wisdom analysis and challenge activities.

This is the second lesson within the Thematic studies (A) relationships and families. This covers both Christianity and Islam, including quote analysis, links to Islamic practices, and a Bible passage comparison. There is also an example of an exam question that could arise on this topic.

This lesson covers the Buddha’s enlightenment and the defeat of Mara. The starter is a recall task based on the prior two lessons and is designed to be printed on A4, but can easily be adapted if this is being used as a standalone lesson. The rest of the lesson includes reading, challenging difficult literacy and interpreting the vivid Buddhism imagery into individual A3 story boards (all files included).
