Entire Level 1 Travel Training course for students with SEN.
These 30 resources form an entire Travel Training course for Level 1 students.
It incorporates the NOCN Discover Local History L1 course, to embed students’ interests into a fun Travel Training course.
By using the NOCN Discover Local History criteria, students can plan and carry out journeys to local places of historical interest after choosing a topic, such as the Romans, local landmarks, local scientific inventions, history of local music venues etc.
Students then research their topic, take photographs at the locations they visit and add these to a PowerPoint, which is then presented at the end of the year, covering the NOCN criteria.

A Scheme of Work Year Plan (year overview) for the ICT/Computing Essential Digital Skills Qualification (EDSQ) for Entry Level 3 & Level 1.
The year plan uses the Pearson curriculum specification (although can easily be adapted to suit other awarding bodies such as NOCN or OCN).
Starting the academic year 2024-2025.
Useful as a guide when creating your schemes of work or can be put at the front of students’ folders to chart progress.
Ideal for SEN students, the course curriculum is spaced out through the year to allow plenty of time for completion and repeat assessments if needed.
It covers all five units:
Using Devices and Handling Information
Creating and Editing
Communicating
Transacting
Being Safe and Responsible Online.
I use this resource as a short research project for students studying Film or Media Studies.
Where students have to research iconic film cars such as, the DeLorean, Aston Martin and Batmobile/Tumbler and etc.
This resource can be incorporated into a Film Studies course or to use a substitute teacher friendly resource, 1 day project.
It could also be used as a fun ICT Internet research project or for the EDSQ (Essential Digital Skills Qualification) unit Finding & Evaluating Information.
Suitable for Entry Level 3+
I use this resource for students studying Game or Media Studies.
It can be used as an extension task or for substitute teaching.
Students are given a commonly thought statement about video games (violent, only for teenagers and geared towards males) and they are challenged to prove if the statement is true or false by providing any evidence to the contrary.
It could also be used as the basis for a debate/discussion for Functional Skills English/Literacy.
I use this resource for CEIAG (Careers Education Information Advice & Guidance) sessions for Media Studies sessions.
(It could be adapted to suit your subject area).
It recaps the 5 different media sectors and the students can then choose a media sector to research a career they may be interested in, to discover what skills, qualities and qualifications are needed.
Suitable for Entry Level 3+ students.
I use this PowerPoint with the accompanying worksheet.
The slides also demonstrates how what the students have been doing/learning in sessions is relevant to a potential career in media.
This is a resource I use for students that require Travel Training sessions.
In order to develop transferable skills, students are required to plan journeys on public transport.
This resource is a scenario where students can plan a trip to their local Game store.
You just need to add the appropriate info (street names etc.) for your local area!
It gives advice to students of things they need to consider when planning their journey.
It also encourages budgeting skills

This is a resource that I use with SEN students that require Travel Training sessions.
I usually use this after the Initial Assessment, so the students can share any concerns they have around travelling on public transport.
They also have to think of the benefits to using public transport (independence etc.) and what travel strategies they can use to help them (fidget toys, music on headphones etc.)
