This document is designed for students to use as a means of identifying their strengths and areas for improvement for their GCSE English Literature exams. This can support students, teachers, parents and tutors in identifying which areas students need to spend more time on. The resource includes support on the following texts: Romeo and Juliet Jekyll and Hyde An Inspector Calls Power and Conflict Poetry The resource also asks students to consider their aptitude with the unseen poetry section of the AQA exam as well as specific subject terminology for literature. This resource can be easily edited for different texts to be used.

This resource can be used as a lesson or as part of students’ independent study. The PowerPoint begins with a true or false quiz (animated) on key events from the play. In the following worksheet, students are given basic questions to support their recall of key information from the plot of An Inspector Calls. All students should be able to answer these questions, though some may be stretched to consider the purpose of these events/characters. They could make links to key quotes and context.
