This lesson utilises the collective memory technique from thinking skills work in gathering info on selling houses.

This is one of several powerpoint lessons that I have uploaded for KS3 pupils that gets them to investigate the use of shock tactics. The lesson is ready to teach with it's resources (if aplicable). Although, you will wish to adapt and differentiate for your own class. They can be taught together to reach an assessment outcome, but all are suitable as standalone exploratory lessons. This lesson introduces shock tactics to pupils so that they know what they are.

This is another one of the Roger Hurn lessons. Based on the story of Hook, which has also been uploaded by Roger himself. It's a reading lesson that works on skills of prediction.

This is a target card for after completing a Lit Mock so that pupils are very clear of where they are heading and what they need to work on.

This lesson can be used to help create characters - it encorporates reading image work.

if you wish to locate all of the full lesson pps in this series, all start with the same heading of 'AQA Scene From a Film'. This lesson is a ready to teach powerpoint - you may wish to make slight adaptations to it for your own context - designed for teaching descriptive skills for the scene from a film task. In this lesson, students recap the rules and the key images before they go into controlled assessment conditions and the board is cleared.

QQT cards – Pupil teaching cards analysis vocabulary These are a series of cards that can be used for pupil teaching –I use them with QQT – can also be handed out as a vocabulary sheet when using PEE – i.e words that must be used! Designed to teach / revise / recap analysis words. Cut them up, hand them to pupils and get them to teach themselves.

For those schools who are still using the optional tests to test pupils throughout key stage 3, these are a seies of lessons that I have uploaded - with the same heading for ease of searching - that cover how to tackle them and how to succeed in both reading and writing. Can easily be adapted to your own context or the lessons can be used for other elements - ie. the generic skills that are covered.

This is one lesson that I have taken from a whole scheme of lessons. Each poem can be used as an individual lesson, or, if you would like to teach all of the lessons, search for ' Poetry Scheme - 3 Poems - Lesson Miss R' and they should all come up for you to work with. At the end of the unit, there is a reading and writing assessment that involves analysis and creativity too. This lesson structures the pupils in developing a narrative at the end point of one of the poems that they've studied. i.e Hitcher / Educations For Leisure or Stealing.
