This is a ready to teach PP that you can adopt for your own context / needs. This is designed to get pupils to analyse the themes in the two poems in order to compare them.

This is a full lesson PP - ready to teach - although you may wish to change / differentiate to your own context on the above named topic. This lesson is one of serveral that create a scheme of lessons about Victorian Crime but all can operate as standalone lessons and I have uploaded them all with the same title stem for ease of finding. This lesson covers The Web and characters.

This lesson is a ready to teach powerpoint - you may wish to make slight adaptations to it for your own context - designed for teaching descriptive skills for the scene from a film task. In this lesson, students recap the rules and the key images before they go into controlled assessment conditions and the board is cleared.

QQT cards – Pupil teaching cards analysis vocabulary These are a series of cards that can be used for pupil teaching –I use them with QQT – can also be handed out as a vocabulary sheet when using PEE – i.e words that must be used! Designed to teach / revise / recap analysis words. Cut them up, hand them to pupils and get them to teach themselves.

For those schools who are still using the optional tests to test pupils throughout key stage 3, these are a seies of lessons that I have uploaded - with the same heading for ease of searching - that cover how to tackle them and how to succeed in both reading and writing. Can easily be adapted to your own context or the lessons can be used for other elements - ie. the generic skills that are covered.

This is one lesson that I have taken from a whole scheme of lessons. At the end of the unit, there is a reading and writing assessment that involves analysis and creativity too. This lesson structures the pupils in developing a narrative at the end point of one of the poems that they've studied. i.e Hitcher / Educations For Leisure or Stealing.

I am working with an exceptional trainee at the moment & we are promoting the work of author Roger Hurn. He uploads his work to the TES é we have downloaded it for our level 2 é 3 Year 7s. This lesson is lesson 1 after that introduces him and one of his short stories. We will upload the others as they are finished. The end result is that the pupils will write to Roger, who has promised to write back - so a massive thank you to him!
