These resources span my career; from my period of teaching unqualified, through to an AST of English & Director of Teaching & Learning. Although my specialism is English, I have taught GCSE Citzienship, Language and Lit, Media Studies, Maths & History. I have also taught all of those at Key Stage 3, so there is an eclectic mix here. As the main trainer in my previous school, I have uploaded many insets and training session powerpoints too.

This is the starter and the worksheets that you need for it. Really interactive - pupils have alsways loved this activity - across Key Stage 2, 3 and 4 - very simple but very effective! Great AFL tool as well.

I designed these very simple self evaluation questionairres for pupils as part of their mentoring process. Pupils fill these in by asking teachers their levels and it encourages them to take ownership of their learning.

Primary School Transition Questionairre

This is a Primary School Transition Questionairre that I use on a module for year 7s to ask them how they are feeling about secondary school, as they join us. Useful to tie into any transition units - but will need adapting for your school.

A very interesting pp that gets staff thinking about the boys / girls learning debate - great for using prior to introducing underachieving boys tactics

This lesson ties into the other lessons that I have previously uploaded on magazine front covers - it is literally the structire for the lesson with a reminder of the key ingredients of the cover - very simple and nothing more than that!

AQA Legacy Spec Poetry Comparison

This lesson is predominantly aimed at the poetry question for the legacy spec - however, it can easily be tailored for study of any comparative texts by changing the texts and the mark schemes within it. I thought it was worth uploading for the structure that can be used.

Writing Poetry 1st day of Secondary school

I use the fully interactive lesson pp for the taster days when pupils come up from Primary feeders to introduce what their English lessons will be like. They love the interactive nature of it and the poem always goes down well. Uses AFs and APP strands.

Discursive Writing for GCSE

I was asked to teach discursive writing to a bunch of boys that needed to have it finished in a day. Thios is the amalgamation of a full scheme of work that i used to inspire and enthuse them. It's a bit gory - but it engaged them and got them writing!

Year 11 Writing Accurately - revise the basics!

(9)
Believe it or not, this very simple lesson is a reminder to D/C borderliners on how they should be writing accurately. It's to hammer home the very basics that make the very big differences in their writing marks - 2 hour lesson.

Target Setting Lessons to Boost Pupils from 3 to 4: These lessons are part of a project that is challenged with boosting pupils from level 3c to 4c. Pupils need a target book to work with and this less More…on is delivered at the begining of every week. Targets are then tracked through all of their lessons for the week to chart their progress. There are serveral lessons available for the start of every week. This is lesson 7.

This full and detailed lesson (designed for a whole day of teaching) takes the two poems, breaks them down and encourages pupils to analyse them and write about them. Then compare them.
