These resources span my career; from my period of teaching unqualified, through to an AST of English & Director of Teaching & Learning. Although my specialism is English, I have taught GCSE Citzienship, Language and Lit, Media Studies, Maths & History. I have also taught all of those at Key Stage 3, so there is an eclectic mix here. As the main trainer in my previous school, I have uploaded many insets and training session powerpoints too.

Manchester – Ordnance Survey Maps

Manchester – Ordnance Survey Maps This is a full lesson PowerPoint that is ready to teach (with resources if applicable) – although you will wish to adapt it for your own context – it’s part of a Humanities curriculum that is taught to Year 7 pupils, so covers Geography, History and Literacy skills with lessons that are contextualised around Manchester. There are a series of lessons that I have uploaded. They can be taught as a group, or as a standalone as each is an entire complete lesson. This Lesson’s LO: To be able to use an OS map successfully to find places in Manchester

Scheme of lessons Tudors With Assessment

This is another one of my older schemes, so it will probably only act as a springboard for other people to design a scheme around it. There are 7 lessons that have been slightly differentiated for upper and lower band and both lessons are here, with resources - some of which are included in the PPs and some are separate. Please don't be too harsh with reviews... they will need some adapting to teach today but it isn&'t a scheme I&';ve rewritten yet!

This is a full lesson PP - ready to teach - although you may wish to change / differentiate to your own context on the above named topic. I've uploaded lots of lessons and some that follow on from each other if you would like to use them all. Each has the same start to the title for ease of finding. This lesson covers the father figure.

This is one of many lessons that I have uploaded on the theme of apartheid for completeing GCSE controlled assessment. All of the lessons can be taught together but each covers a topic so can also be picked up separately. For ease of locating, the title stem is the same: ' Apartheid Controlled Ass'. This is a full powerpoint lesson, ready to teach but you will want to adapt it / update it for your own context and any resources are also uploaded with it. This lesson covers the apartheid laws.

This is a full lesson PP that uses classbuilding activities and introduces a website called Class Dojo that is a behaviour tracking system - free to all teachers after you have registered. The hyperlinks are on the internet screens included. You'll have to adapt it and set up your class but it&'s a brilliant tool!

This is another of my schemes that is taught to year 9 in order to prepare them for spoken language study in years 10 and 11. This one uses clips from Educating Essex and teaches pupils key terms and then how to apply them - refers to the AQA mark scheme. All lessons and resources are here.

AFL Whole Staff Training PP - For Teachers

I’ve used and adapted this for years with lectures at MMU and for all teachers in my school. I don’t normally share my teacher training PPs but somebody lifted this version from our shared area and is using it to train and charging for the training in good to outstanding workshops. As the rightful owner of it, I take it as my right to share it for free! So I hope that it is as useful to other staff as it is to mine.

With these resources, I get the pupils to imagine that they are one of the teachers. I give them the advice on the CV and the job advert and tell them to write a CV for the character - great for getting into the character and for functional / contextual learning.
