Every week, we have 1 reading lesson with year 7 in English. I now like to underpn them with an objective so that their reading for pleasure has a technical focus too. This is a scheme of work that I have revisited and updated for 2012, to include all APP frameworks, persuasive techniques and analysis of the Death Penalty. The scheme looks at murderers and results in a question about whether or not we should bring back the death penalty. Pupils end by writing a discursive essay, as if they are under controlled assessment conditions, as I am trying to prepare year 9 for their GCSE years. It's National Immunisation day on the 10th of November. So, here, I&'ve put together some information on Jenner and then added a whole class quiz for the whole form to take part in. I&';m going to start doing these for form time on all special days so look out for them.

This quiz links to all of the Christmas Maths songs that Moyles has commissioned from artists like One Direction, N Dubz etc. Click on each picture to hyperlink to the song - pupils try to work out the answer to the sum and all of the sums and answers are on the last two slides. Great for a bit of making maths cool and mathematical fun at the end of term.

These are the first lessons of a scheme of work that covers all areas of the AQA GCSE exam for English. Taught to pupils with low Ds who were trying to get to C, this breaks down all of the questions and teaches pupils how they should tackle them.
