Recommended Use:
Use this worksheet to help your learners explore the phonics sound they are learning! Children choose a book to read (library book or school reading book) and must take a note of the different words they find which include the sound they are learning.
This could be laminated or placed in a clearboard to be used with a whiteboard pen, or used as a worksheet.
This is an editable document!
These Countdown task cards are for literacy and numeracy! These would be perfect to use for a starter task or to allow your pupils to access as a fast finisher activity. I have included instructions in each of the files for how to make use of these cards - however make use of them in any way you wish! :)
This is the perfect resource for your first day with a new class! Pupils can use this booklet to share some information about themselves on their first day of school in a new class with their new teacher.
I have uploaded this resource as a PowerPoint, so it can be edited to suit the needs of your class! You can also add in any extra slides if required.
I would recommend printing/photocopying this resource double-sided if printing it out for pupils to write/draw on. Alternatively, this PowerPoint could be uploaded to Google Classroom and the pupils can edit it digitally!
I hope this is a useful resource for that very first day of meeting your new pupils :)
These cards can be used in a variety of ways!
fast finishers
morning starters
learning how to use a thesaurus
Through using these cards, children are encouraged to think of synonyms of the word printed in large font. Children can work with one another to come up with different synonyms to help them expand their vocabulary.
Suggestions for use:
This resource could be laminated or placed inside a clear board and be used with a whiteboard pen. It can be used with any text. Pupils can work on this individually, with other children, or can be completed as a whole class!
Background: The 3 Sharings was developed by Aidan Chambers in 1994 to help learners explore different texts more deeply. You can use the 3 Sharings with a class novel, children’s reading books or as a way for children to review/suggest texts to one another.
Whilst/after reading a text, children can share their:
Likes and Dislikes: what parts of the texts did the child (not) enjoy and why?
Puzzles: what was difficult to understand? What would the child like to know more about?
Connections: how does the relate to what the child already knows? What connections can they make to their life, the life of others, the world or other texts?
