NumberLoving Blog. The 16th in a series of videos where each week I visit my favourite mathematics websites. If one amazing mathematics blog wasn’t enough for you, well how about two! Following on from Colleen Young’s excellent blog (see Video 8) we now have Number Loving. This blog is simply rammed packed full of the latest mathematical news and developments. Earliest recommended Year group: Year 11. This tests the pupils knowledge of straight line graphs and y=mx+c and the significance of gradients of perpendicular lines. This is from the “Something in Common” collection of resources by John Burke. They allow consolidation of key skills, prevent students from copying each other (as all the questions are different), make marking and assessing easy for the teacher (as all the answers are the same!), and provide a lovely extra challenge for students as they try to figure out exactly what is going on! A video tutorial covering biased dice and probability. Ideal for KS3, GCSE and A Level maths. The 40th in Mr Barton's Autograph Video tutorial series. This week we take a look at how Autograph can be used to introduce students to the concept of experimental probability. You can very quickly set up a probability distribution function of your choice (fair dice, biased dice, numbered balls in a bag, you name it!), take samples of varying sizes, and create diagrams from the data.
