The slides talk about: The meaning of Diwali Where Diwali is celebrated How it is celebrated on each of the 5 days A hyperlink to a video about the story of Rama and Sita It also includes 6 suggested activities for the children to do. Year 1 Continuous Provision - Elmer This scheme of work has been planned with the aim of allowing children to become totally familiar with the story ‘Elmer’, as well as being able to make links to their own lives. There is a focus on emotional literacy throughout. Part 1 - Each day includes one group or whole class activity that focuses mostly on children’s emotions, as well as adjusting to routines and expectations. However, it would be a great transition resource for the first week of year 1. Each day covers a different Elmer book, these include: • Elmer - The Patchwork Elephant • Elmer and the Race • Elmer’s Walk • Elmer and the Lost Teddy • Elmer and Super El Part 2 - Part 2 includes a range of suggested continuous provision activities that you may want to put out for the children to access throughout the week. There is a number of activities listed, all engaging and fun. All of the continuous provision planning has direct links to the Year 1 National Curriculum (except PE, history and music), but links to the new EYFS 2021 Development Matters have also been made on the first page. Early Years Continuous Provision - Colour Monster Suitable for Early Years or Year 1 This scheme of work has been planned with emotional literacy in mind. It could be used at any point in the year, particularly if you are helping children to understand and deal with their emotions. However, it would be a great transition resource for the first half term of reception.
