This thinking skill based resource introduces pupils to a Welsh town suffering from a build up of rubbish. Mirroring actual events happening now around the world pupils can debate the opinions of the townspeople, consider the impact of waste on the environment and evaluate the possible effects of these problems in their own areas. This resource covers aspects of the Consumption and Waste, Natural Environment and Choices and Decisions themes in ESDGC.

The third unit explores labelling theories of criminal behaviour and the final unit encourages learners to think about the value and accuracy of official statistics on crime by exploring the reasons people have for reporting and not reporting crime to the police. A series of whiteboard activities and extensive investigations and case studies relating to settlement. There are extensive investigations focused on settlement patterns in the north east of Wales, Cheshire and Liverpool. This investigation adds to the understanding of the Key Questions in UNIT G2, Changing Human Environments, Investigating Settlement Change in MEDCs section of the WJEC AS GCE in Geography. These activities do not attempt to cover the whole theme and can easily be incorporated into other resources and teaching and learning approaches.
