In this unit you will find out about the stages involved in business start up, including the different types of ownership, legal implications, business objectives and stakeholders.
You will develop basic knowledge of marketing, human resources; physical resources and costing a business start up. You will also learn about the importance of monitoring the quality of goods and services. You will also gain skills on financial planning, including start up costs, running costs, cash flow forecasting, break-even, profit and loss, balance sheets, budgeting and variance analysis.

This resource for upper KS2 / lower KS3 looks at the location of Tropical Rainforests before giving users the opportunity to compare their features with environments in Wales. Pupils can find out more about ‘rainforest’ products and also take part in a debate to decide the future of Guyana’s forests.
This thinking skill based resource introduces pupils to a Welsh town suffering from a build up of rubbish. Mirroring actual events happening now around the world pupils can debate the opinions of the townspeople, consider the impact of waste on the environment and evaluate the possible effects of these problems in their own areas.

A collection of resources to support the Locality Studies topic - Comparing a Less Developed Country to Wales. The unit consists of presentations, interactive activities and recommended follow up work.
The unit begins with work on location and compares the physical aspects of both countries including the climate. Attention is given to fair trade and other human aspects such as tourism and food on the island.
This interactive activity aims to encourage pupils to learn number bonds to 10. They will play a pairs game using both numerals and picture prompts. They will then go on to develop problem-solving skills with simple word problems using number facts to 10.
This resource uses ACTIVStudio software and online activities and has 3 sections. The first covering general problem solving, and includes an online multichoice questionnaire where pupils can enter their name, and print off their scores.
Multiplication and division is covered in the second section including learning tables with extension material looking at inverse operations.
Finally, addition and subtraction looks at number bonds to 10 and 20.
A Maths support programme based on yearly tests which focus on key objectives. There is a test for pupils in each of the years 2 to 6 and each test has been designed around the key objectives in the previous year’s programme of study.
The intention is that the pupils’ performance on the test would serve as a diagnostic tool for identifying areas of the previous year’s work which require further development for certain pupils.
