Descriptive writing task aimed at using an image for stimulous

Complete plan and Powerpoints for 13 weeks of WOW and POW (punctuation of the week). Once set up this format can easily be copied for further. The plan covers 2 1/2 full terms. Whole school literacy.

A range of tasks on Martin Luther King focusing on Freedom. Looks at information retrieval and creative writing. Two separate PPs of varying ability. Lower ability includes some Polish translations. Thinking hats task for differentiation.

Capital punishment activities aimed at low ability. Used for IGCSE coursework, but flexible.

Series of lessons on Sexism and treatment of women throughout history. Using in preparation for new AQA English Language GCSE. Two differentiated PPs- Y10 High and Low ability.

For the carousel larger quotes were placed around the room on sugar paper and students moved around to annotate these before being given a sheet with all quotes on and annotating them from class notes.

Students learn about Chernobyl with the aim of completing a piece of creative writing. There is a link to a useful clip and self assessment grid included.

PP will last up to 2 weeks depending on class ability and how long you want to spend on developing writing and peer assessing. The skills numbers match up to Doddle skills however these could easily be changed as the skills are very universal. Focus on improving vocabulary and peer/ self assessment. Images are emotive focusing on 9/11, war and Chernobyl.

This PP was used over a week with Y9 students as an introduction to 19C literature. The unit looked at skills needed for both the language and literature exam. There is a mixture of individual and group work. Extracts are available from the AQA KS3 19C resources pack, available from their website under teaching resources.
