AQA Spanish GCSE : Jobs, Career Ambitions Photo Cards

(0)
In this pack, you will find 10 high quality photocards for the new AQA Spanish GCSE on one of the 12 topics covered by the syllabus: Jobs, Career choices and Ambitions I hand-picked the photos on these cards and discussed them with my students from a range of abilities. Everyone should find something to say about the photo, especially on topics that students generally find more difficult, such as customs and festivals or global issues. The questions on the cards have been finely balanced, and like in the real examination, they offer opportunities to use a range of tenses and timeframes. The teacher questions have been conveniently grouped on one single size of A4 in order to keep your printing costs down and to save paper and the environment. You may decide to either stick to the suggested unknown questions like in the real examination, or you may choose to pick your own question from the last page which offers a convenient way to tailor the unknown questions to the ability of your students. For this reason, the cards are suitable for both Foundation and Higher tiers. These cards have been checked by a native Spanish speaker, and I put a lot of care to ensure that there are no mistakes in the language, the variety of questions that I used, and in the overall quality of this set. The licensing terms are extremely simple. You may use these cards as you see fit. You may reproduce them, pass them to you colleagues in other schools and encourage them to buy their own license if they decide to use them too. You may not however translate them, resell them in whole or in part, or include them in some of your work that you intend to sell. You may want to consider buying the full pack of 120 photocards covering all the required topics: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/120-high-quality-spanish-gcse-photocards-for-aqa-12000761 In addition to a generous discount, this pack gives you free access to the original Word files too!

French AQA A-Level Speaking Cards : Current Issues

(1)
In this pack, you will find 18 high quality discussion cards for the new AQA French A-Levels based on one of the 4 themes covered by the syllabus. The theme covered in this pack is: Theme 3 -Aspects of French-speaking society current issues Like in the actual examination, every card lists the relevant themes and sub-themes; I added a third category called “Granular theme” which lists the sub-sub theme of the card. This is extremely useful if you use these cards regularly to revise specific granular themes, with the foreign language assistant for instance. This pack contains 2 different cards on 1 theme x 3 sub-themes x 3 granular themes = 18 cards in total. I have extensive experience of the AQA A-Level examinations: the difficulty on these cards is finely balanced, and the vocabulary that I deemed too difficult was adapted to match the expectations of the A-Level specifications. Just like in the real examination, the format of the overall majority of the cards is very similar, but from time to time, one might have a slightly modified format. This will help your students adapt to a new situation that they have never encountered before. I am a French native speaker, and I put a lot of care to ensure that there are no mistakes in the French, the variety of questions that I used, and in the overall quality of this set. You may want to consider buying the full pack of 72 cards covering all the required themes: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/72-cards-for-the-aqa-a-levels-speaking-examination-in-french-paper-3-all-themes-12011519 In addition to a generous discount, this pack gives you free access to the original Word files too!

AQA GCSE Speaking French Audio Practice for Questions

This package will help your students practise for the AQA French GCSE Conversation. I found that my students’ first hindrance when it comes to speaking was actually understanding the questions that I was asking them, so I prepared this package. This is how it works: Students have access to 254 .mp3 recordings of possible conversation questions, taken from my pack of 120 Photocards available here: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/120-high-quality-french-gcse-photocards-for-aqa-photo-cards-11994167 They can copy these recordings onto their computer, Mac or PC, or on their Android phone. These files are also compatible with IOS devices (installed through iTunes) even though I am not able to offer any support regarding this. Using their favourite media player (I suggest using VLC Media Player for simplicity), the student can practice the area of their choice, by either using recordings related to a sub-topic or a whole theme. These can be played in order, or randomly. I recorded these questions speaking slowly and clearly; please feel free to have a look at the video preview to see for yourself: https://youtu.be/ZxrV2WMqF3Y These questions double as the possible unknown questions for the photo cards, which provide a solid and comprehensive base for the Conversation.

Body Parts French speaking activity

Body Parts French speaking activity

Here I am sharing with you a set of 3 lessons that lead to speaking peer assessment on parts of the body. The first lesson revises parts of the body in French with some great funny videos from Thomas. I encourage you to share these links with your students who can watch them again at home in order to complete the parts of the body worksheet that I included in the pack. The second lesson sets up a complex speaking roleplay between a doctor and a patient. The idea behind this is that there will be unpredictable elements, as doctors and patients take it in turns to initiate the exchange. There is groupwork involved as all the doctors will be working together to prepare their script, and so will be the patients. The unprectictable elements come from the fact that the doctors will not know what the patients will say and vice-versa. The roleplay is scripted into 11 exchanges, for which I included some suggested vocabulary (in the order of the roleplay) The last lesson is when the teacher pairs a random doctor and patient, who will perform the roleplay that they have prepared independently. The rest of the class will assess their performance with GCSE-style criteria on the worksheet provided. My students love this type of activities.

French speaking Money Sharing Game

This is a great game to play with your students from any years in order to practise numbers in French. You may want to print the last page, which is a nice reference about French numbers. This money sharing game is based on the concept of game theory, which is the study of mathematical models of strategic interaction between rational decision-makers. All the instructions are included on the worksheet in the target language, and you can have a look at a sample worksheet filled in for your reference. The instructions are very simple, and yet I am sure that your students will thoroughly enjoy this.

French Culture Reading A-Level Cultural

French Culture Reading A-Level Cultural

Have you ever wondered how to get your students to improve their cultural understanding of the French-speaking world? How to allow them to work independently - yet at their own pace, while sharing and discussing their findings with their peers? How to ensure that they go beyond the facts, and target the top band of the assessment criteria by showing their ability to analyse the information that they have uncovered in their research? But maybe more importantly that they do not give up halfway through and that they feel completely prepared for the speaking examination? To further my work on the 72 speaking cards for the AQA A-Level speaking examination in French which you can find here: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/72-cards-for-the-aqa-a-levels-speaking-examination-in-french-paper-3-all-themes-12011519 , I prepared for my students a 36-page reading guide, covering all the sub-sub themes (I call them granular themes) for the speaking part of their test. Each page consists of the following, for every single granular theme studied: 2 recent (2015-2018) web links to sites providing factual information, in a paragraph form, forming the base for a three-tiered reading comprehension activity. 5 further demanding questions on the granular theme, the answers to which require a demonstration of analysis. each worksheet can be set for homework, peer or teacher assessment, classroom presentation or a combination of any of these. What you are getting there is a lot more than the sum of its parts: it’s a complete system to get your students to read around the subject independently, something that you can plan with them months in advance and review with them when the time is right.

Make your own French or Spanish Keyboard for free

Today I would like to share a little tip with you that could potentially save you hours, money and headaches. If you need your students to type in either French or Spanish, you will soon realise that learning the ALT codes is really cumbersome, slowing them down, and not ideal for the classroom. There is an alternative on PC, which is to change the keyboard language to either French or Spanish, and place a few stickers on some keys to have a fully-working(*) foreign keyboard at no cost.
