Suitable for KS4 - first lesson on context with a focus on the opening stage directions. The AOs for the exam board are referred to throughout. The powerpoint refers back to a scene from the movie Titanic - suggested scenes for this are the one where we see the difference classes of passengers arriving on the ship or the dinner party scene. The plenary refers to a teacher’s post box which is simply a way for student to anonymously post questions / concerns to the teacher.

Suitable for KS4 - full lesson on Mrs Birling with a focus on the idea of the Undeserving Poor (similar to that of Scrooge!). The AOs for the exam board are referred to throughout. The powerpoint refers to Margaret Thatcher - it would be useful to provide students with an article about her dismantling of the NHS together with one about the introduction of the NHS as comparisons / context for the play.
