This is a Powerpoint presentation that can be used to introduce solving trigonometric equations at A Level. It assumes that students have been introduced to the basic trigonometric graphs the lesson before. The first slides gives the objectives for the lesson. There is a recap of the trigonometric graphs followed by a step-by-step guide to solving trigonometric equations, illustrated graphically. There is an extension activity provided for more able students, inviting them to investigate the general solutions of trigonometric equations. A summary of the lesson is provided on the final slide for use as a plenary.
These notes and examples are specially written for the new linear A Level Maths specification. A student booklet is provided, with spaces for them to fill in the solutions to the examples. There is also a separate teacher booklet with detailed worked solutions.

This pack contains two fun activities that can be used to help students practise simplifying expressions involving surds. In the first activity, students must identify the ‘Odd One Out’ in each group of expressions involving surds. Then they must come up with their own expression that is equivalent to the others in the group. Students should be encouraged to explain their answers. In the second activity, students must connect the dominoes to make a chain of pairs of equivalent expressions.
