Thisfully editable, A4, colour-coded sheet can be printed double sided, and lists the key moments for each of the main character in Willy Russell's 'Blood Brothers', including any songs that relate to these moments. I created this resource to help my pupils sequence and group the events in the play when answering character questions, but you could also remove certain elements and ask pupils to fill in the gaps as a revision exercise.

This lesson helps students to understand what exactly imagery is. Students engage with a variety of examples of imagery from literature, before getting the opportunity to listen to and respond to a poem themselves. I have used this lesson with KS3 and KS4 students for poetry and descriptive writing, but it could work across a variety of ages and abilities.
A list of the key events in 'Macbeth', in chronological order. I have also included a mixed up version of the plot which I used with my class for revision in case this is helpful to anyone.

-Rank characters in order of responsibility, and discuss their opinionS
-Evaluate the importance of thematic and contextual factors, including: poverty, class, fate, superstition, nature and nurture.
- Consolidate their knowledge on a worksheet and reflect on their final opinion.
A list of the key events in 'Blood Brothers', organised by song. I have also included a simplified, mixed up version of the plot which I used with my class for revision in case this is helpful to anyone.

I use this TEACH framework as an alternative to PEE paragraphs or other writing structures, as I find that it can be adapted for all ability levels and is more attuned to the new AQA GCSE literature mark scheme. Rather than being restrictive, it allows students to build to a more detailed analysis.
This lesson focuses on how Mrs Johnstone is presented at the start of the play, using the Marilyn Monroe song for close analysis. Students are encouraged to think of Marilyn Monroe as a motif, and to consider other motifs in the play. A tracker is included for students to add to as they read.
This is a creative lesson which gives pupils the opportunity to imagine they are producing their own version of Blood Brothers. From casting, lighting and scenery to story boarding pivotal moments, this was a really enjoyable lesson that helped students to visualise the play. I taught it after we had finished the whole text, and it was very well received by students!
This lesson focuses on getting students to form opinions of Mrs Lyons at the start of the play, and introducing them to the concepts of hero, antihero and villain. Students find evidence for their opinions in the text, and are exposed to sophisticated vocabulary to describe Mrs Lyons as they read.
