This is my lesson and resources on power and using the power equations. I have included my worksheets that I have made to assess the correct use of the power equations. The answers are also included.

This resources is designed to cover the idea of bond energies in exothermic and endothermic reactions. Slide 1 is mainly content based - having the students describe and explain what an exothermic and an endothermic reaction are in terms of activation energy and energy released/absorbed. Slide 2 is four progressively harder activities concerning the bond energies of reactions. I used common bond energies in the reference table in the middle. Most certainly a difficult topic suited for GCSE Chemistry, but I made this with my mid-set Year 9 class in mind, which is why I made it as visually easy to read as possible.

This is a numeracy/skills based lesson designed to train students into the proper ways of creating and labelling a good scientific table. The main activity involves having the class create an extensive table for an experiment (you may choose to complete the experiment if you wish!) and they can PASA their progress on these skills at the end.

This is a worksheet created specifically to help embed mathematical principles in a science context. The worksheet is tasking the students to make various things the subject and will help develop equation transformation skills. This is bundled with an adjoining powerpoint if required.

This is an experiment brought down from GCSE to KS3 so that the students can have an early taste of a required practical. The class will have the majority of the lesson to complete the lengthy experiment after you have shown the modelling slides and demonstrated the experiment yourself. This lesson is followed up with a large mid-topic assessment piece. The lesson can be done in 50 mins, but could over run. Included are the ppt and learning mat. This is the PowerPoint I use to teach and demonstrate how to complete the second required practical of the topic. The class will need to do at least two components so there is a good chance this will turn into a double lesson. I chose a lamp and a normal resistor. This is my revision sheet summarising the enzymes Amylase, Protease and Lipase for a Year 9 biology topic. It is heavily based on the new AQA Biology unit of the same name, but stripped down, so lower ability GCSE classes might also find this useful. As usual, I have included my question cards for the students who finish early to write their own questions to test others.
