Suitable for Edexcel A level Biology exam boards - or any that teach cystic fibrosis.
This is word document containing cell organelle names and definition.
Students have to match the organelle to the correct definition.
This is designed so that the teacher makes copies and cuts them out for a repeat activity. Useful as a starter or plenary to check knowledge learned.

This is a word document with WJEC AS Biology Unit 1 Specification Checklist.
All objectives have been summarised in a table with check boxes to help students keep track of their coverage of the objectives.
Could be used incorporated into a booklet, printed out for students to use or uploaded to the online learning platform.
A lot of my students have found this very useful to know what to expect and what to cover for the final exams.
This is a powerpoint on the cardiac cycle with incorporated activities and animation links for a 1 hour lesson. This does not include electrical coordination of the heart beat.

WJEC/EDUQAS AS Biology Unit 1.2 - Cell Structure & Organisation - LESSON & ACTIVITIES
This is a lesson designed around the WJEC/EDUQAS Unit 1.1 Objective A.
Learners should be able to recognise the listed organelles on a diagram or electron micrograph of eukaryotic cells, and draw them onto a generalised diagram of a cell, understanding their relative size.
Learners should understand that organelles work together to carry out functions within cells, e.g. in the synthesis and transport of biological molecules such as glycoproteins.
It could however be adapted for use by other major exam boards.

Aim of lesson: To teach students how to assess biodiversity of a habitat calculating Simpson’s diversity index

Powerpoint - this runs through learning objectives, how to sample species in a habitat outdoors, with a worked example using to data to calculate Simpson’s diversity index and how to interpret the result. Introduction to the in class activity of biodiversity sampling. Several past paper questions and mark schemes incorporated for practice with students. Activity & Student Worksheet - this is an in-class biodiversity sampling activity designed to allow students to try sampling without having to visit an outdoor habitat. Outline - using soup/seed mix as a variety of organisms/ placed in a tray, students use mini quadrats to sample, collect data and calculate the simpson’s diversity index.
