This resource is for Year 5 or Year 6 classes. It contains different spelling rules and statutory spellings required to be spelt accurately across Year 5 and 6. With each weekly spellings there are 10 spellings and a dictation which includes 5 of the 10 words. There are spellings for each half term, for a full academic year (with the mindset that no spellings may be set over some holidays). The presentation version is helpful as students can see their own errors after writing and it can be useful for them to use to mark their own work.

There are 2 arithmetic tests, aimed at children in Year 5, which contain 20 questions in each test. (The questions are different to the ones in the Autumn Arithmetic test, which is also available in my store.) Additionally, there are reasoning based questions for children to apply their numeracy understanding to. 28 reasoning questions and they are presented in a variety of methods. These questions cover a wide range of the topics covered in Year 5, to prepare children for completing their end of year assessments. Many are set out in the typical style a SATs paper in Year 6 would look and use the same wording. All answers are included too.

This game is called Back to the Fractions and is designed for children in Year 4, 5 or 6 who are learning how improper fractions can be turned into a mixed number (a.k.a. mixed fractions). The aim of the game is to completely fill your template card of fraction amounts until the improper fraction given has been made. You do this by rolling a die, moving said amount, and each time they land on a colour rectangle, they can colour that related fraction segment on their template card. You get the printable board game, instructions and 2 printable template cards. There is an option for 6 smaller printable boards to reduce printing costs.

There are 3 levels of questioning for the children to choose from for each multiplication of either 10, 100 or 1000. Then there are 3 levels of division questions which they can choose how much they answer and at what difficulty. Then another sheet provides reasoning based questions related to multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 & 1000. The lesson is aimed at Year 5 but could be for Years 4, 5 and 6. An answer sheet is provided for every question.

This PowerPoint will guide you through how fractions can be represented in various formats. The strategy used in this Powerpoint is, “I do…We do…You do”. This approach means the teacher models a good example and talks through relevant question prompts (notes are included for slides). Then the pupils have a go with the teacher before finally having their own independent go. They repeat this strategy for identifying how to read fractions and then again for how you get a whole. Questions for pupils to do independently are at the end of each section to test understanding. This lesson walkthrough is designed for children working in Year 5 but could be used as a recap in Year 6 or to introduce the topic in Year 4. A resource for children to explore the addition and subtraction relationship (fact families). Starting with bar models and whole part models to show partitioning. Fact families - moving the position of the added number and the total to show in different ways and to show as subtraction is the inverse of this. The challenge cards display a number of activities that get children to manipulate the practical fraction resources you have. They will need to demonstrate their understanding by showing equivalents, fractions of amounts, practical reasoning based questions and need to think about ascending ordering too. They often need support with what the structure is, how to start each paragraph and what a good write up should contain and this supports each step. It is aimed at children in KS2 but could be adapted for specific parts of upper or lower KS2.
