This differentiated resource provides a range of pyramid addition and subtraction problems for children to solve. It ranges from pyramids which are addition only - starting with adding only 10s, going up to adding 4 digit numbers. Then it provides pyramid problems which require subtraction and addition skills. Setting Description with Scaffolding for Upper KS2 (Year 5 &6) This activity is for children in Year 5 and 6, who are looking to write about a setting. It contains 3 different colour images about different types of settings. Each setting contains a scaffolded structure to aid children to reach the same level of description. Additionally, there is a peer and self review slip which states objectives you may expect to see related to setting descriptions (figurative language techniques). Each one of the skills has an example next to them so children can see good examples of each skill. The slip also allows for other students to leave feedback on the review slip (this is another Yr5 expected skill - to leave feedback for others).

There are 2 arithmetic tests, aimed at children in Year 5, which contain 20 questions in each test. (The questions are different to the ones in the Autumn and Spring Arithmetic test, which are also available in my store.) Additionally, there are reasoning based questions for children to apply their numeracy understanding to. 23 reasoning questions and they are presented in a variety of methods. This Word document contains 72 different types of setting descriptions and corresponding images. There are 12 images per page and each setting description tries to use a range of writing techniques (such as listed adjectives, figurative language and adventurous vocabulary). This is great for KS2 or KS3 children (ages 7-14). You can also get this as three separate PowerPoint presentations to display in the classroom.

This PowerPoint will guide you through how fractions can be represented in various formats. The strategy used in this Powerpoint is, “I do…We do…You do”. This approach means the teacher models a good example and talks through relevant question prompts (notes are included for slides). Then the pupils have a go with the teacher before finally having their own independent go. They repeat this strategy for identifying how to read fractions and then again for how you get a whole. Questions for pupils to do independently are at the end of each section to test understanding. This lesson walkthrough is designed for children working in Year 5 but could be used as a recap in Year 6 or to introduce the topic in Year 4.
