Simple writing frame for own version of a verse of the popular Julia Donaldson story. I asked my class to choose an animal from a bag (different to the ones in the book). They then filled in the writing frame and performed their verses.
As above - this could easily be adapted for lower attainers by blanking out the text boxes so they can record with pictures. Made for Fairy Stories could be used for other narrative.
Weeks 1, 2, 3 and 4 for New Framework planning of the above text. May help somebody! First two weeks are on the first file, second two weeks on the 2nd file. Other topics covered: Paperwork; planning
I asked my class to label / annotate a picture from the story the one with the vines etc. These are the fabulous words they came up with to describe the scene. I have added little pictures from the story and plan to display a copy of the picture labelled with these made from the best combined ideas. You could either use it as it is or type your own class' ideas into the labels. This formed part of our work on stories with a fantasy setting and improving sententences through use of WOW words.
I have adapted work for Nicky Byrne and Julia teacher to create a powerpoint for KS1 children to improve and uplevel their sentences. I used this to encourage them to add first appropriate punctuation then ambitious vocabulary followed by a connective to uplevel their sentence. Additional and alternative connectives / wow words could readily be added for your class.
