The starter activity involves putting the number 10 at one side of the classroom and 0 at the other side of the classroom and the classroom needs to be cleared on one side to allow the learners change to decide where they stand on the scale of 0-10. This is a Power Point presentation and worksheet perfect for GCSE English Language and Functional Skills Level 1- 2. The learners are asked to act as journalists, watching a report about the Hatton Garden Gang and taking notes to locate the vital information. The learners then get into groups of three or four and answer questions on the report. The worksheet allows the students to answer the questions on paper. The answers are provided on the Power Point. The Power Point then asks the learners to partake in a board blast to list what they would include in a newspaper article and some answers are provided. Finally, the learners can use some time to research the gang before creating a newspaper article on the Hatton Garden Gang appealing to the public for information on the missing suspect. This lesson last around an hour and a half and can be split into two equal lessons of the listening comprehension and the writing task.
