This is the second Bingo activity based on the spelling list for Year 5/6) It consists of a teacher card with 50 spellings and their meanings plus 30 different pupil cards ( 10 sheets of 3). The teacher has the choice of simply reading out the words from the caller card, or - for higher ability groups - the meanings. Great as a starter or plenary activity.
There is material here for several days' work for year 6 and above on Dickens' A Christmas Carol. The starting point is a guided reading session to allow pupils to get to grips with the meaning of the texts. The pack contains annotated teacher copies of the two texts to be used for comparison . In a second file are notes for a follow-up drama session where pupils explore the contrasting characters of Scrooge and his nephew. The PowerPoint presentation is a step by step guide on how to write a comparison of contrasting characters. A follow-up pupil worksheet is provided.
This is an Interactive team game for able beginners. 5 categories with four graded questions in each. Topics are on personal information: name, age, where you live… Score needs to be kept on a flip chart or whiteboard. Correct answers earn the points indicated on the question slide. Incorrect answers have that number of points deducted from the team score. Pupils working in mixed ability teams works best.
A short teacher-controlled presentation for more able KS2 and KS3 pupils. It shows that that the Active and Passive ‘voices’ of verbs can exist in all tenses, including present and past continuous forms. The presentation ends with an on screen exercise where the task is to change 10 sentences from active to passive. The sentences require pupils to manipulate a variety of compound verbs (e.g. James Smith was reading the news / The news was being read by James Smith)
The fourth in a series of comprehension exercises from Dickens' A Christmas Carol. The text is the dialogue between Scrooge and his nephew in the counting-house in stave one. The 10 questions on the text are worth 20 marks in all. The same text is used as the basis of four other activities (cloze, 2 punctuation exercises, and a speed reading text). Suitable for Y6 and up.
This presentation was designed to enhance classroom practice of French regular verbs. The target conjugation is chosen from the drop-down menu, the ‘allons-y’ button generates a new verb and a button is clicked to spin the subject selector. Pupils then write down (on white boards preferably) the form of the verb that matches the subject. Teaching points or answers can be typed on the on-screen board. Work can be saved at the end if desired.
Any tense can be practised with this activity. The conjugations available via the drop down menu are -er verbs, -ir verbs, -re verbs, and -er verbs involving spelling changes.
In order for the interactive features to work, you will need to enable macros on your computer when prompted.
Based on the objectives in the Y3 programme of study, this set of 6 worksheets targets number and place value objectives and is ideal for pupils who are finding it difficult to keep up with their year groups owing to gaps in previous learning.

An interactive 10 question multiple choice exercise. The text is the passage where Scrooge first encounters Marley's Ghost. Good for a starter or plenary for Y6 and up.
This lesson is based on Y3 objectives, but could also be used for revision or catch-up purposes. It consists of an interactive PowerPoint which shows the processes involved in adding using place value and ‘carrying’. There are two worked problems, followed by one more for pupils to have a go at in the whole class setting.
The three worksheets follow on from the PowerPoint and give pupils the opportunity for independent follow-up work.
